I want an explaination for 'Alderley Edge'. Is it a cover, a rip off, an hommage ? Caus it is defenitely 'The Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' by Iron Maiden. But badly executed.

Its good written, balances and provisionally done, its awesome, good heavy metal album, just some 890's itches in lyrics missing what makes an album essential. I love it.

When were 890 itches in lyrics ever implemented?

"Alderley Edge" must be some sort of tribute to "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son".

edit: And "Touch The Rainbow" bears many similarities to "The Evil That Men Do". This is getting ridiculous and I have only just reached the 4th track.

edit 2: "Gods Of War" has the same chorus as Helloween's "March Of Time"

edit 3: I only just noticed that Ansercanagicus has made the same comment about "Alderley Edge" before me.

These guys are clearly inspired by Iron Maiden. And by being inspired I mean pretty much ripping off some of their most well known songs.

I like it nevertheless. Aside from those questionable parts of Cloven Maiden, it's really good record in my opinion.

edit. What, there's more? Jesus...

It's a pity, the songs are all quite good, it is well executed, great vocalist that sounds a lot like Dickinson. Overall, it is a wholly enjoyable album but I got this "oh I've heard this before" feeling way too often to actually come back to this album.

Yeah, I like this, but it's extremely obvious that there are a ton of similarities (to the point that it sounds uncomfortably often too similar).

I mean, Maiden is my favourite band and they took a lot of "inspiration" from Seventh Son (which is my absolute favourite record)...

So basically, yes I like this record... How could I not like it? Half of it is Iron Maiden stuff...

Classic band from the 80s when they were Laying Down the Law on the debut and Sultans Ransom is one of a masterpiece album from these guys. Can't beat the old ones but it's a good listen; maybe appeals more to new folks who come to heavy metal or those who don't remember the past.
