I am genuinely having a hard time believing this is a one-man band.

Quite digging this track that's up already. I really enjoy this guy and what he does with this project but for a while now I've kinda been wanting him to push it in a new direction, as all the releases sound kinda samey after a while. This though sounds more melodic than ever so if the rest of the album follows suit that will be a welcome change.

I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. “Come unto me” is a foolish word: for it is I that go.

Got the promo a few days ago and yeah, this is exactly what I was looking for. Definite shift in gears into more midpaced and melodic territory. There's even piano on a track or two. This was just what this guy needed to do, he makes great music but needed to change things up a bit with this project's sound. Bravo.

I'm halfway on my first listen and I am blown away. The violin, the piano, the melodies, the atmosphere
I don't remember his previous albums being like this.

And the artwork is again fantastic.

I have to say, I wasn't enjoying this early on, but it really comes into its own later on - given how put off I was by the first couple of tracks, I was surprised how into it I found myself during 6th Passage

This has everything that I like about Black Metal; darkness, rawness, and melody. Some albums hit the mark on one or two of these defining characteristics and I thoroughly enjoy them. However, this album hits the mark on all three and is perfectly composed through my ears.

The variety of sounds on this album is what really does it for me. Possibly the most eclectic black metal release I've ever heard. Possibly.

Black metal violin > black metal saxophone

Addendum: By far my favorite album this year, I changed my score to a 10 and I haven't given one since 2017. Each track on this album is unique unlike much BM, the instrumentation is eclectic, the atmosphere is perfectly evil, it changes up constantly and doesn't get boring like most BM, and imo there are no filler tracks. I think what I find most perfect about this album is it bridges the divide in black metal between all of the subgenres; it's atmospheric, it's depressing, it's aggressive, it's dissonant, and it's even melodic......

This is incredibly unique and interesting. I gotta say, I love the "violin riffage" on several of the songs

Pleased I gave this a second chance and enjoyed this much more on rerun. I was getting a symphonic refined melodeath turned depressive black metal vibe. I believe we've only heard the start of a potential foundation. Anyone got any background on the art, please?

Fav tracks : 2nd, 3rd and 7th passages. This is a long ass album, and if these three tracks were not present the album wouldn't really carry the punch that the addition of these songs have provided it. The background bass work in some of the songs lays a real solid base over which the violin and piano are layered. What makes it more interesting that these sounds do not exactly go the way you pictured them.

Anyone got any background on the art, please?

Cover painting: "The Dracula of Mars" by Alan E. Brown

The concept behind "Eternity Of Shaog" is one of psychic transmutation and demonic possession, and further explores the ill worlds of the immemorial gods to form a diptych with the previous album. Through a series of songs/gateways, the listeners are conducted in front of Shaog Og Magthoth, the most unfathomable among the Sovereigns of Nothingness, introduced by ESOCTRILIHUM on the "Pandemorthium" album and reminiscent of Lovecraft's Ancient Ones. In the context of this fantastic, elusive lore imagined by Asthâghul, Shaog is an omnipotent god living an endless and solitary existence outside of time and space; a hungry wild beast from a nightmarish dimension watching us with gnashing teeth, like the space vampire on Alan Brown's mind-blowing cover painting. Shaog resides at the centre of an empty, dead universe, imprisoned in a cage of monotonous desperation from which he tries to escape by possessing the unsuspecting voyager who ventures into his world of ruins through dreams...

Sorry for the late thank you! Your effort meant much to me as I didn't revisit this on thereafter on Bandcamp first time what seems aeons ago. Any chance to have the topic about art is always good even when it's bad.

You are welcome. I am currently listening to his whole discography. All his albums have amazing artwork, especially the one just prior to this release.

His other material besides this one didn't leave anything for me sadly. Seeing older artworks of recent age (recent Blood Incantation springs first to mind) is normally a neat treasure to see. Every artist I value tends to equally do the same care for aesthetics as a whole, showing care for authenticity in quality towards identity.

Musically Eternity of Shaog has more to offer than it's predecessors. Majority of metal cover arts have a sort of consistency as per as the artist is concerned. It's a lot of fun to track their journey in their art career.

Surely does feel like an eternity alright. I'd prefer "roughly 45 min or so" of Shaog, cheers. It's really good but the guy should like scrap 30% of his songs, the albums always feel too long to me.
