By a large margin best funeral doom I've heard this year and I can't believe that this is their debut.
The vocals are insane, can't get enough of the gurgling throat singing (?) of "Stygian III".
Funeral doom AOTY thus far.

Cheers for the inadvertent suggestion. And to think I'd miss something great coming out of Quebec. Shame on me.

I've just started listening to it, and that opening gargle a minute into the first track is quite something

If you like this you should check out the death metal band these guys are in, they are called Chthe'ilist and are similar to Blood incantation, Demilich, etc.

I'm listening to Chthe'ilist's Le Dernier Crépuscule right now and I can indeed confirm a striking resemblance to Demilich... Thanks for the rec!

I think it's fine. Didn't blow me away like it seemed to have most others. But maybe I'm just too busy and depressed rn for it. Though tbh that's prime funeral doom mood and if it can't capture that... Seems a bit by the numbers and not too emotional

I'm with you there. I think it's a really good album but not quite deserving of some of the hype it's getting online. Its greatest strength is its atmosphere but lacks variation in the riff department, even with the piano usage and pace change.

Oh man, this is just too good to be real. From the beginning you know you're in for a ride.

I absolutely loved the first track. As many have said the vocals are insane. Which is the main reasoning for my high score. The final track though wasn't as great as the first. I wasn't a fan of the "crying" guitar because it reminds me a bit of the shredding genre which I'm not a fan of.
