OMG! No comments about one of the greatest prog/cross-over albums ever? This is the top of Voivod's work, NothingFace and Angel Rat mixed together. Their isn't a bad song on the album. Piggy's (RIP) guitar work put's him on the list of the very best axmen in metal. I love the theme - science fiction - it creates a "spacey" aura around the music. I'd buy this cd just for the song "Jack Luminous"...check it out if you haven't!

Great album, with a powerful balance of progressive metal and nice spacey atmospheres...probably their best album of the 90's.

Definately their best. Just has an outlandish atmosphere. The casing's pretty wicked too. 3-D artwork suits this album perfectly.

Definately their best.

I totally disagree. I would say Dimension Hätröss is definitely their best. A lot of people would agree with me I think, and it wouldn;t surprise me if the band thinks the same. Why else would they play Dimension Hätröss in its entirety at Roadburn on Friday April 13?

I agree that Dimension Hätröss is good, but I can't get into it as much as The Outer Limits. There's just no variety in it. Khaosmongers and Macrosolutions To Megaproblems are good songs, though. At least with this album there's a bit more remembrance like on Fix My Heart, Le Pont Noir, The Nile Song and the epic Jack Luminous.

Because it's waaay more accessible than The Outer Limits? This is the one band we will never agree on Marcel. I love the Angel Rat and The Outer Limits much more than their earlier stuff (Although DH is 3rd on my Voivod fav list).

I would say The Outer Limits is way more accessible than Dimension Hätröss, actually all the stuff after DH is more accessible than the first four albums.

How can you say that? DH main ingrediant is thrash and TOL is prog/cross-over. What's more accessible, thrash or prog?

Thrash for the most part, But this album is incredibly accessible and up to this point probably the most accessible thing Voivod had done, Even the 17 minute Jack Luminous is very accessible, It just happens to be a long song, There are a lot of catchy moments in this album and tbh it's fairly easy to get into, I still think this is a great album, But Its not superior to Dimension Hatross or Killing Technology.

Thousand words cant describe how awesome this album is. Voivod is one of the most original metal bands on the planet, and this album shows you that. The musicianship on this album is incredible and the whole atmosphere in general. You must hear it, now!

This is definitely the Voivod album that I enjoy the most. Sure Dimension Hatross and Killing Technology are incredible too but this one just feels like a more cohesive and satisfying listen. True classic right here, in the very sense of the term. Infinitely replayable, too.

Super killer album. All songs have their place here -- and not least cover of The Nile Song which was already great in the first place. Everything stands out; give the skip button a well deserved rest when listening to this album.

From the albums up to this one, yes I'd say it's the most accessible, frankly I don't remember the later ones very well so can't say about those for now. I think Nothingface is quite accessible as well, but I might've listened to it more than the other albums and that could distort my judgment.
