I literally have my own private access to a surf break so I would never get anything done working from home, in fact I had the dy off the other day to do some renovation and spent half of the day surfing
That's a new one @mc I hear us get lumped in with aus all the time, a band will mention a show in aus in an interview but it was actually nz. I'm not sure why people find it so hard to get there head around, they seem to.....

!T.O.O.H.!: the band whose music is as unusual as their name. Free Speech is exactly as peculiar as you would expect a !T.O.O.H.! record to be, but is it any good?
I think they are slowly getting better from the atrocity that was Democratic Solution. I'm still not sure about the whole thing. It's sad really, The duo is clearly missing a band as a whole. It shows that it's the work of only two people that used to be more people, if that makes sense.

...one of my problems is the drum programming but I understand if Schizoid can't handle the drums like he used to due to his schizophrenia.
The nicks are a little bit tricky but it's been Humanoid who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Schizoid uses electronic drum kit, the drums as such are not programmed, it's all played on the EDK setup.
There's a recent and very insightful interview done with Schizoid in Slowly We Rot zine, if you are interested. It doesn't read to well on the BC page but it's worth reading if you like the band.
New material is in the works and it's shaping to be much more complex from what the guys told me.

It sounds a lot like what they wanted to do with Democratic Solution but with the supporting electronic aspects integrated in a manner that allows for better flow. Not that you can expect rigid structure with a band like this, but it feels more streamlined and focused this time around. The clean chant-style sections are a bit hokey but they don't detract too much from the overall sound as they're thankfully used sparingly.
It's a bit too "fun" for my tastes but it's good to see them return to form.

It's definitely an improvement on Democratic Solution; the mix of the wild avant-garde/tech-death with the flamboyant synths and other electronics is interesting and not annoying. Not going to rival Rad a Trest for me but I enjoyed listening to it at least; there's some really nice guitar solos later on in the album.

Once you process the vocals and music into a more complete whole and will get more comfortable with the record, you might realize it's still fun but there's many disturbing elements in it. There's plenty of nasty riffs which are actually sick. Your impression reminded me of myself in March when I got record and started to decipher all its layers.

There's an idea of revisiting DS to make something 'more seriously sounding' of it. We'll see if it happens. That record is a bridge between the old and the new. I consider it an anti-record actually and love it for that. Free Speech is not here to rival the old albums, the band is too creative to be like "let's make another (better) version of Rad a Trest". In many ways it's a fresh start with a new creative approach and primeval !T.O.O.H.! spirit and it's 'to be continued soon.'
It was nice and interesting to read the feedback. Thank you. And have fun with the record and give it time to grow.

Oh my, I'm very sorry for the mix-up. Don't know how that happened!
Now that I'm giving a full listening I feel the drums sound much better to my ears (new headphones might also be a reason). It definitely sounds the way I would have liked Democratic Solution to sound.
