The legendary prog-rock Canadian trio known as Rush has been an important discovery in my musical quest ever since my then-girlfriend - now wife - introduced me to them back in 2002. Unknown to some, living legends to others, Rush has had an incredible longevity since 1968. Snakes & Arrows is their 18th studio album, following their resurrection album, 2002's Vapor Trails. In those five years, the band put out some awesome live material both on stage and on DVD Rush in Rio, R30], as well as exploring their roots with 2004's cover album Feedback. But finally, Rush came back to releasing some new original music.

Modern Rush is obviously different to that of the 70's and 80's Rush, but it seems this is one band that never quite ages. 'Snakes & Arrows' is one album which portrays the band at their most talented, but not quite most experimental. The two instrumental without a doubt keep the album alive and fresh, though some riffs have been known to be repeated throughout the album.

you try making music for 40 years and keep it all original!!

I am a HUGE Rush fan so I like everything they release. But I think I like Vapor Trails better than this

Haha, well that's a pretty good point actually:)

Yeah, i thought 'Vapor Trails' was slightly weaker musically, but its still Rush.

Shadow King
A somewhat obscure, underrated release that came out between the band's return from tragedy with "Vapor Trails" and their most recent album "Clockwork Angels," "Snakes and Arrows" shows Rush experimenting more with acoustic/folk guitars mixed in with their classic hard/progressive rock style in songs like "The Way The Wind Blows," "Faithless," and "Bravest Face." There is also an increased propensity for instrumental passages with "The Main Monkey Business," "Hope," and "Malignant Narcissism" lacking Geddy Lee's distinctive voice, but demonstrating Rush's skills on a musical level. Definitely worth checking out.
