Rating: 8 Now this is what I call underrated (in their discography anyway). 'Master Of Alchemy' seems to be nearly 10 minutes of the same riff over and over, but it absolutely slays everything. Great sound indeed. The whole thing is wonderfully sluggish and seriously stoner-drenched.

Aye, for some reason this one and We Live get really little attention which the band got back with Witchcult Today.
Personally, I love everything this band has ever done

I'm actually pretty unfamiliar with Electric Wizard's discog so I'm going through it now. I recall liking We Live but I'll go over that again anyway after this, then I'll tackle the earlier albums which I don't remember anything about at all! Should be a good way to spend an evening.

Theory: Your awesome-gland got some weird tumor which is why you gave Dopethrone a 6. The debut isn't too special though, it's one of those "it's just good" albums, but yeah... good. I really dig Come my fanatics. Everyone should enjoy Wizard In Black, what a great riff (and awesome intro).

Oh oh... I forgot, Supercoven is the tits too.

Dopethrone is something I've come back to time and time again over many years and I don't think it's ever tickled me in a positive way. Just lacks any kind of hazy, stonery groove. Actually to me it sounds more like a sludge album than a stoner one. I don't have high hopes for the albums before it but you never know.

Man if there's something I really feel in that album is fucking GROOVE. Specially in tracks like Funeralopolis and Barbarian. You are right about Dopethrone having a strong sludge sound but I would call it stoner with sludge rather than sludge with stoner. The combination is one of the main reason to why I love that album. A brilliant mix of stoner with some sludge. It's hella suffocating and narcotic. The muffled sound only helps to increase the suffocating feeling.
