Alcest has never released any real full length album but the French band is already cult. After a split and a demo, Neige (the main man of the combo and… only musician) found a deal with the famous German label Prophecy to release his first album, "Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde". The album will be out in August and you can be sure of one thing, we will remember it!

This is exactly the kind of music I love the most,and everyone is talking about Alcest and how it's the greatest blackgaze band ever. After giving it a listen,I can say, I'm really not THAT impressed. It's not bad either,but honestly it doesn't even come close to stuff like Agalloch or Wolves In The Throne Room...


Indeed. This particualr album is too saccharine and sweet for my tastes. All happiness and niceness and what have you and the chord-progressions just seem so uninpsired and basic. I prefer my music with a more obvious touch of melancholy and less obvious chord progressions. Try the follow-up to this album, though ;-). It's not the best thing ever, but it is better.
