One is usually inclined to put Teräsbetoni in the "guilty pleasures" box, for many reasons, but mostly because the band is known as the Finnish Manowar. Indeed, the similarities, at least on the surface, are endless: dressing up in leather costumes; lyrics that drip with cheese you can recognize from ten miles away (even if you don't speak Suomi); and an epic heavy metal sound. Music-wise, the comparison stands, but their attitude is different than Manowar's, it's actually quite comparable to Twisted Sister's. They're aware that their presentation of the music is not the most serious one, but they make sure to offer nice albums for the lovers of their genre to rock out to.

It´s amazing that i have discovered this band because of Ice Hockey World Championship 2013 ... and because of Finnish national goal song Taivas Lyö Tulta, when the finnish players scored twice against my beloved country ! . But ok, i can forgive it this time

It's kinda true metal of steel, kinda not; and this should be apparent to all who have heard 100% true ass metal such as Manowar, Rebellion and Wizard etc. I cannot say it's not good an album, but it can be done better. Lyrics are pretty clearly written in tongue-in-cheek manner, which works better at some moments, but I'd say more often it's taken too far.

Other bands play, Teräsbetoni ... murskaa?

Re-listening. It's a superb move to have Jarkko Ahola here on vocals, he is quite likely the best choice/voice in Finland for this kind of music. The main problem is probably in the fact that it divides people to either hate it or like it -- Like Manowar -- like in festivals in Finland when there's different kinds of people listening either to the mainstream artists or metal artists included in a same event there can be a trouble between these groups -- especially when people are drunk; but then when Finntroll is playing metal/humppa everyone seems to be getting along just fine

Some are referring Teräsbetoni as Manowar of Finland; and yes the lyrics are in the same vein as Manowar. I have used the term truth of steel or "Metallitotuus" on this forum before, so I think that album has influenced me in some way. Mighty good recording, but non-Finns will miss the factor of language.

Don't tell us how to play (our instruments)
Don't tell us how to (wage) war
Don't tell us how to win
Don't tell us how the things should be handled
