Deathspell Omega needs no introduction. Producing remarkable work for over a decade, they have placed a firm foothold over the black metal industry. Known for their trademark sound, they are one of the most respected metal bands in the modern era. And with the release of Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice, they began to accumulate the recognition they deserved.

The biggest drawback of this otherwise good album is the length. By the time, Track 11 started playing, I was like, "Is this EVER gonna end ??". The length makes it boring to listen to again and again.

9,3. And being a worshipper of this band it almost seems a low rating... I initially gave it a full 10 since it was the first DsO album I heard six years ago and I still see it as a landmark for the whole BM genre. However, I can't help but think it would've been perfect with a slightly shorter length and without a couple of songs: "Odium Nostrum" and especially "Malign Paradigm", which sounds out of place (maybe because it's "rawer", or maybe because it's simply useless/pointless).
Apart from that... It's still incredible, and has everything I want to hear from black metal. Essential.

I'm on my first listen (finally) and I almost got an orgasm, I'm really happy that I still have the 2nd part of the trilogy to enjoy

You should make sure you listen to the Kenose EP (released between part one and part two). It's easily the best DsO release to date ;]

Kenose and Paracletus are the only DsO albums I listened too and I still regard Kenose as one of the best of Black Metal that I listened to in my life

To me the songs that are out of place are the last two. I could live without them on the album and just end with the beautiful Carnal Malefactor

SMR,Q is indeed a beautiful piece of art. My favorite song is probably Carnal Malefactor. There's a certain sense of nostalgia and I love how it builds up to a beautiful and chaotic crescendo before the chants appear. Powerful stuff and beautiful poetry as well!

Say, what does a maternal heart feel when merely
Vinegar stills your child's thirst?
You'd implore to harbour his torment in your chest...
To make this burden yours, but... Sacrilege!

I have listened to it twice until now and i still feel that I need more listens, this is the kind of thing that I usually get stuck at for a long time.
Those chants were amazing and the closing riff of the song is incredible.

I have been listening to this constantly trying to figure out why is it so damn brilliant, I ended up giving it a 9 but I'm sure that had I been there in 2004 and this album came out I would have been blown away by it

Although I've been into this band since 2005 I'm only really starting to appreciate the (comparatively) simple approach of this album in the past few months.

Can't wait for whatever the band give us next now their trilogy is complete.

Mesmerizing and powerful. I'm sad that I didn't enjoy these guys until now. Oh well, more time to appreciate their music I guess.

Carnal Malefactor and Sola Fide I for me.

This is the album that made me fully "addicted" to black metal.

No I meant this album Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice is their best full length, but Kenose is their best release.

This beats Kenose by a small margin. There was definitely a time where I thought otherwise but this album is like good old wine. It gets better with age.
