Under the file "Metal Eccentricities" Finntroll figures as a top contender, these Finns have managed the way to create playful yet aggressive music, using as a base a Finnish polka rhythm called Hummpa, the wide array of instruments these trolls use is quite amazing, to name a few I would have to say accordion, mouth harp, flutes, clarinets, herty gerties even a honky-tonk piano.

This is folk metal.....most "folk metal" bands are some other form of metal, be it heavy, power, black, etc, plus folky melodies of folk instruments....but i think a metal genre is in the riffs...and the humpa riffs make it folk metal

First Folk Metal album I ever bought. It's still my favourite of theirs, I love Wilska's vocals. it's a shame he only did one full length album with them.

Nice album. I really like Människopesten and Det Iskalla Trollblodet and Trollhammaren is surely a great hit song. But for me most of the songs are still weaker than on the early albums.

I recently revisited this album after not listening to it thoroughly for probably five years. It was a great reminder of why I love Finntroll. I haven't been much into them in a while, but this album will always hold a special place. I liked the next album, "Ur Jordens Djup," a lot but for other reasons. Nothing they have done since "Nattfodd" though has quite captured the perfect mix of darkness, atmospheric but not overly cheesy keyboards and a certain anger.

This is my favorite Finntroll album. Trollhammaren is their best song in my opinion and I can listen to this album over and over and never get tired of it. In my opinion it's a masterpiece just like Jaktens Tid.

This is easily the best album Finntroll have ever put out in my opinion! It's actually the album that first turned me on to folk metal, I can still remember being about 15 years old and hearing "Trollhammaren" for the first time, I couldn't stop laughing, it was like Black Metal but with accordions (that's how I first interpreted the sound). But though the polka elements were hard to take seriously, I remember thinking, 'I absolutely have to buy this!'. Awesome record. Also, I think Wilska was their best vocalist.
