Additional info
Recorded and mixed at Harrow Studios, Holland 1992 - all bass parts played by Ron Van Pol.
Martin Van Drunen recorded the vocals alone in the studio without realizing he was already booted from the band. The vocals were intended to be recorded by Ron Van Pol. However the other members of Asphyx thought the vocal track was fine with Martin singing so it was kept (the lyrics to be sung by Van Pol were yet to be written so Van Drunen's lyrics were kept as well).

Last One on Earth is a "krushing" release, simply put. That meaty Asphyx logo on the cover should be developed into one single iron brand; to be rightfully stamped onto the center of each and every death-doom metal release's jewel case (preferably stamped on by the pupil-less "last one on earth" himself). It would be an appropriate way to remind listeners of the origin of the definitive death-doom metal tone.

At first I thought this was awesome, but now... it's a good album but its greatness wears off quickly...

The only thing that really bothers me here is the production, I think it needs a little more polishing, anyone agree?

Nah, I think the sound of this one is fucking savage as it is. Check out The Rack, now THAT's raw. The debut should have been a bit more polished like this one. Both are great albums though.

I actually like the production in the debut. This one is good too, I just think it could have been even better production-wise.

Remastered sounds better.

Very powerful death metal! The apocalyptic lyrics on the title track are amazing and the low-tone heavy riffs create a great atmosphere throughout the album!
I first wasn't sure if I'd like the vocals, but they've grown on me. In fact, they sound a lot like Chuck Schuldiner's vocals on Scream Bloody Gore with this sickened quality rather than the typical monotonous deep voice of other OSDM.
My favorite tracks are Last One on Earth, Asphyx (Forgotten War), and M.S. Bismarck

A definite death metal classic. After already great debut the band took a massive leap forward with this one. Everything's even better here, beginning from the songwriting, heavy as balls guitar tone and the overall production quality. This is such a great fun to listen to anytime and anywhere.
