Look, I just cut myself, this violin sounds like a razor blade slicing my arteries. Now let me read some Shakespeare to you. Pain. Suffering. My ex-girlfriend. Religion. Violins as razors again. Crimson red drops of blood meandering like the wine from the Holy Grail. Your ex-girlfriend. Pain. Violins. Shakespeare. Latin references, look how deep I am. Bleeding love. Now look, I'm angry for a moment!!! Speed. I'm angry!!! AAAAA... OK, now, I'm sad again. Depression. Shattered passion. Violins. Pain. Goodbye.

A good album, that still shows my dying bride's strengths, but there also a few weakpoints here. Yes,there is a violin, but even then its not used to the full extent as on turn loose the swans, or the angel and the dark river. For an album that got me into this band, i think it weaker now than i thought it was on first listen.

Probably one of the most whiny albums ever made. Doom metal my ass; more like slow-paced gothic slop.

My Dying Bride's worst album by far. Yeah totally whiny, the sort of whiny I can't stand. Warning - Watching From A Distance is also whiny but there I love it cause it has soul and feeling whereas here it's just angsty whiny

I suppose you have not listened to "Evinta" yet; or maybe you have, but you just don't consider it a real album...?

I haven't heard it yet, also not the new ep.

Ok, so just stick with the new (noteworthy) EP and forget about that triple disc failure.

I agree. Maybe it's no "Songs of Darkness" or anything, but by all means is it not a BAD album. It still has a great atmosphere.

Yeah, Evinta is boring. I listened to it once and never felt like listening to it ever again.
That being said, The Barghest O' Whitby is a very good EP/song in my opinion, so you could check that out.
