Ahh Megadeth... This wonderful band used to be my favourite band with Metallica until they released Risk and lost my interest. I then did not even give The World Needs A Hero a chance, it wasn't really worth it anyway, although better than crappy Risk. I didn't expect anything from the 'album of the great return', The System Has Failed. I had heard the song 'Kick The Chair', which was interesting, with good thrash riffing despite the lack of aggressiveness in the vocals. But they had sort of lost the flame in my opinion. Now I've listened to the whole album like thirty times, and I've reached a conclusion: oh damn, I'm sorry, I was wrong, I won't criticize a band blindly ever again... This album is brilliant.

Megadeth's decline officially ended here imo. Although i dislike how they edit Dave;s voice in many of the tracks i like the way it sounds in of mice and men. A lot of great songs on this CD

Written by ThisIsEndgame on 28.08.2011 at 02:05 A lot of great songs on this CD Agreed... 3-5 are my favourites. The vocals in Mice annoy me a bit, but overall it's certainly a good one. Had it rated at 7 for the longest time, until today. Among Deth's three best albums IMO

For me, this is Megadeth's best album outside of their first 4 classic albums. My only gripes with the album are Chris Poland's solo in "Of Mice And Men" being criminally short, the whiny hypocritical lyrics of "Something I'm Not", and the fillers "My Kingdom", and (the pointless!) "I Know Jack".
There's a genuine tension in many of the songs, even the mid paced songs, that was abscent in most of their other post-RIP material. For me, it's definitely the closest Megadeth have came to recapturing the vibe of their first 4 albums, which is why I regard it so highly!

A good album, i'm going to have to agree with Angelic Storm in saying that this is their best album outside of the first 4.

Really underrated album! A few forgettable songs on it towards the end but the first seven are killer; especially Blackmail The Universe, Die Dead Enough, Kick The Chair, and Back In The Day.
