Some line-up changes in the new Bloodbath album, Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) handed over the vocal duties to Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy), Dan Swanö left the drums and picked up the guitars, and recorded the sophomore effort of this all-star Death Metal band, entitled Nightmares Made Flesh.

The thing that always intrigued me about this band was how come these talented and well-known musicians got to make typical Death Metal? I mean, If you put 4 geniuses in one room, you wont expect that they will come up with something as typical as Bloodbath right? But they did, first class Death Metal that's it, but sadly no innovations, no new stuff here, just Death Metal.

I definately wouldnt consider my self a brutal death metal fan, but for some reason I just love Bloodbath. (Not bashing just imo) to me death metal bands blur together and most sound too similar, but this album rises from the masses as a standout and the following two releases just the same. any fan of extreme metal should check this out!

1. Bloodbath is a revivalist death metal band, not brutal death.
2. Bloodbath is a revivalist death metal band, not an original concept.

That being said, this album is definitely amazing.

I would say this is Bloodbaths best album, The production isn't as good as on the first album, But the song writing definitely is.

Bloodbath has a lot of fans on this site, I have to wonder why other Swedish DM bands like Entombed, Dismember etc. dont have the popularity of Bloodbath here, Considering that they do what this band does, Only a lot better.

I'm assuming it's because they aren't out of the '90s and they have a lot of popular musicians. I mean it's a supergroup so you're getting fans of the musicians coming to see what they've done, whereas bands like Dismembered and Entombed are known for releasing a few classics back in the day and not much else (unfortunately).

It's about ease of access I think.

I think your right. I know Bloodbath was the kind of band intended to help introduce people to the old Swedish sound but Its a shame that a lot of people seem to have missed them out.

Bloodbath is a new wave of death metal.

That's a bit of a stretch, considering the band members have long been involved in the metal scene and the music itself is by no means original.

Granted, this is still one of my favorite death metal releases. I just disagree with it being described as a new wave of death metal.

In fact, wasn't Bloodbath conceived as a revivalist death metal band? I remember I read that somewhere.

i think we must more think about lyrics and anything about a album too more know band
when most of death metal band is so commercial and mostly the same voice...so when a band write a song ((Brave New Hell)) that referent to brave new world novel by Aldous Huxley...I prefer that call Bloodbath new wave of death.all lyrics are so deep and songs are perfect.

What would you say about Death? Or Atheist? Bloodbath are far from reinventing the wheel, and they certainly aren't the most forward-thinking band when it comes to lyrics. Most of their songs deal with traditional death metal themes to be honest.

One of the best recent Death Metal albums I've ever heard, and certainly Bloodbath's definitive album. I'm beginning to think that Mikael Akerfeldt is having more success with this band than he is with Opeth. This album is brilliant though. Every song is twisted and disturbingly evil in nature but it excels in having a crisp clean sound and being as concise as possible.

Not here to argue that, but just thought I'd let you know this is Tagtgren, not Akerfeldt.

Is it just me, or is Brave New Hell the catchiest damn song on this album? Catchy like a pop song, but fucking absolutely nothing like a pop song.

Anyway, great album. Peter Tagtgren did a fantastic job on vocals.

Yeah, when I first listened to the album I played that song a hundred times I understand where you come from when you compare it to a pop song. There could even be a choreography for it.

The lyrics for the song "Eaten" canvasses a pretty fascinating subject. Pretty bizarre obsession, that's for sure. Oh well, takes all sorts. I suppose the people that indulge them and actually eat them are a lot sicker than those wanting to be eaten.

In case you didn't know, it's based on the history of Armin Meiwes. Same thing as with Rammstein's "Mein Teil".
