Guest review by
Skyforger, released by Amorphis earlier this year, can be summed up with two words: one is commercial, and the other is safe. Generally the two go hand in hand when examining an album release, and this is the case with Skyforger. And while the album is filled with a multitude of grand and catchy choruses, the band refuses to experiment at all. Generally, the song structure for each and every song is exactly the same, and the song writing stays true to the same simple template throughout the course of the album. In fact, it can be said that by listening to the first three songs of the album, you have listened to the entire album already.

This is indeed a great album. The melodies and vocals are very catchy. I can't get them out of my head!
It is humanity who must pay homage to the greatness of the Universe... not the Universe to the human narcissism.

This is actually the only release they've done with the current vocalist that I actually like! The other ones sort of bore me to be honest. Yeah though, this is a good release......the best Amorphis record since "Far From The Sun" (2003)

Secundum Filium
My very first Amorphis album, and to this day my favorite by the band overall. All of the songs on here have something epic and magical to offer. Sampo (first song I listened to by Amorphis, obviously) is probably the most progressive song in their entire discography, the movements and transitions are absolutely divine.
Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree (Martin Luther).

I used to like Silver Bride until I realized it has the same melody as Children of Bodom's Living Dead Beat which came out before.

Amorphis totally have a good reason to rip off CoB, don't they?
