Its evidently softer than their previous releases and of course has more influence from the folk rock and funk rock genres, but this album has a mind of its own, almost. A very good album that shouldn't be ignored by those who have more than just a sweet tooth for Progressive Rock.

This is an absolutely superb album - sure, no metal/rock/anything remotely heavy to be found here, but the songs on this record are absolutely top notch. You will not find a better use of a flute than on "The Whistler"! Like you said, this is listenable for any prog/folk fan. Classic.

Another Masterpiece by Jethro Tull... Great atmospheres, brilliant composing... An amazing mixture of Folk rock and Progressive Rock which will make you feel you are living in an England Wood!

I don't think all the songs are best JT, but "Hunting Girl", "Velvet Green", "The Whistler" and "Fire At Midnight" sure are songs worth remembering.

A Nice Guy
The blending of the traditional folk elements fit perfectly well with the hard rock sound here, and between the acoustics and electric guitars, the songs flow brilliantly well. I would also say this album is Andersons best performance on the flute, "The Whistler" is simply a work of art. Other highlights for me are "Cup Of Wonder", "Hunting Girl" and the title song.

One of Anderson's best.

He was not composing alone, the others contributed as well, especially Martin Barre / electric guitar, lute, John Evan / piano, organ, synthesizers and David Palmer / piano, organ, synthesizers.
Not my favorite JT, but it was an album in the right direction, as the previous album (TOFRnRTYTD) was really weak.

The following album though, that's a favorite of mine.
