The only true great work by Hecate. Then Jon left and this band turned to mediocre... And, luck this album is still one of those pearls very few people had the privilege of listening!

Rating :
01. Goetia - One of creepiest / unbelievable dark atmosphere intros i've heard - 10
02. Beneath A December Twilight - 10 - Best Hecate Music ever IMO
03. The Spell Of The Winter Forest - 10 - 2nd Best Hecate Music Ever IMO
04. Aflame In The Halls Of Blasphemy - 10 - Another excellent epic
05. A Monument For Eternal Martyrdom - 10 - Another beautiful instrumental. Amazing! Haunting, beautiful, it gives you the creeps!
06. The Slaughter Of Innocence... - 9 - Weakest until now but still very good. The piano work is great.
07. At The Haunted Gallows Of Dawn - 10 - Haunting Instrumental with some bells and then the usual haunting and gorgeous atmosphere, damn, this is really top notch stuff!
08. Christfire - 8 - Another good song, though not as good as others imo
09. Within The Ruins Of Eden - 9 - Another great song
10. The Danse Macabre - 9 - More of the same goodness
11. The Beckoning (An Eternity Of Darkness) - 10 - For the final of an outstanding album the haunting outro fits the atmosphere.

In resume, this album is a pearl and imo one of the best black metal releases ever made, and unbeaten by any of their following releases (which is general are very mediocre.)

The only true great work by Hecate. Then Jon left and this band turned to total crap!

Dark Requiems And Unsilent Massacre? Anyway.. I think Hecate did great stuff all the way to Miasma EP.

edit: and Redimus is pretty good too. It just took some time to get used to it. "Morbeea" is still a track I would delete from it, but on the other hand there's tracks like "Choose Misanthropy", which in its coarseness is very effecting.

Dark Requiems is a good album but not comparable to this one. Next ones were always worse than the one before, imo. Of course everyone is free to disagree. I only left my humble opinion

Bad English
Tage Westerlund
This band comes from UK? They killed whole genre there because I would guess its Ger or Scani in quality, music, aggressivitet, creativity , lyrics, atmosphere, philosophy. This is better as old CoF and non British BM , and we can use extreme bands will stand close to this one, not in past, not present, not in the future
