Somewhere Far Beyond by Blind Guardian, may very well be the best album of the band, or it should even rank amongst the best power metal albums of all time. The album starts off slowly with the intro to "Time What Is Time", and quickly progresses into the typical Blind Guardian speed and vocalism. I think personally that Time What Is Time is a low point for the album. I liked the demo version of the song better, and I think the extra effects were added to this song just for the heck of it. But one flaw does little to discredit this album.

Rating: 10 The perfect culmenation of their early and later sounds....still, plenty aggressive, but with better melodies than earlier is divine. Every release after is too soft, imo.

Rating: 8 While listening to the title track recently I suddenly noticed/realized it's about The Dark Tower...

Their first well-produced album.

I like the production on "Follow the Blind", maybe I find it better than the production on "Imaginations from the other Side". But yeah, this is pretty well produced/executed.

The title track is godlike

Also props to "Journey through the Dark", such riffing.

Some great songs on this one! German speed/power metal as the Branch Davidians intended it themselves.

this is not speed, real speed was 1tha nd second album only, rest is pure PM, even epic touch not as some cheasy Freedom call

Rating: 9 Sweet Moses, this is a good album - should not have waited so long to look into BG.

Rating: 9 This, IFTOS and ANATO are the 3 contenders - NIME cannot get close. Time what is time is a blistering opener, the bard's song is great for a band anthem, and the title track is extraordinary

The bagpipe interlude in "Somewhere Far Beyond" may be one of their best music moments ever
