Prog metal...? Well, very little here and there (more to come on the successor).
The debut is basically straight heavy metal (with a touch of power metal).

A good unknown album with either a low budget sounding production or maybe they wanted it to sound different than most albums on purpose? The songs are good, not best from the genre and as an album not as good as tier 1 ones. Great a listen nevertheless, an interesting one, it is surprising what you can still find after decades of listening.

I discover old school gems basically every day. But that is because I mostly listen to old school metal only.

I can relate to that even though I'm not listening as much albums as I used to, so there is less discoveries made. Still if I had to choose I'd rather listen these old school releases, at least in the more traditional metal genres, than the more modern releases, I think traditional metal was collectively in a better place in 80s and early 90s, and I'm quite often impressed by the lesser-known albums
