We are at the 21st century, can you sense it in the Metal genre? If you reply positively and you have never heard this release, you are but bedeviled. You will not feel it, since before you realize, you will be crushed.

Ulcerate hail from New Zealand (yes the hobbit infested land can yield quality death metal). The band formed in 2000, and they are playing along side of the leading and most popular extreme metal bands consistently (which actually some of them should appear along side Ulcerate, which will not probably happen as I mention as the end of the review).

So proud to have this band from New Zealand. I really love this album it is such unique and innovative death metal. The technicality of the drums and guitar is insane. Check it out!

Listened to The Destroyers of all, listened to this, so consider me a fan. This shit is unrelenting, jawsomely complex and structured really well. Any fan of extreme music should hear their releases and be destroyed.

Finally listened to this album and I'm very satisfied. I still have to check their debut album but I'm about to nominate ulcerate as the best post 2000 metal band

Their debut is considerably more brutal death though. It's witht his album they found their sound so to speak. The debut is still good for the style though but you should expect nothing like what they've been doing since this album. Even the vocals are different.

yeah, not every album is expected to be original and ground breaking. It is totally ok for a band to have solid but relatively standard debut and then evolve into sth new.

It's a decent album but there's nothing I find all that special about it. It's definitely got a sludgy feel to it, and there's a slightly impressive dark atmosphere to it. There's a very heavy guitar tone and solid bass sound, the vocals are decent and the drumming is quite impressive, I don't think much to the riffs though.

I've heard so, they're a band that have often caught my attention but I've never really given them a proper listen until now, they play an unusual style, very unique.

I would still say Stare Unto Death is the only Ulcerate album I really, truly love. Everything before washes over me a bit.
