This is a fantastic album for the sludge metal genre, but also shows Crowbar's creative talents too. Some of the longer songs here in 'Thru the Ashes' and 'Suffering brings Wisdom' really work well when the musicianship comes together to produce slow-moving yet hypnotic sounds. It's something that Crowbar excel at, yet they never seem to make it too predictable either.

"Repulsion In Its Splendid Beauty" is an absolutely gorgeous track. Incredible song writing and atmosphere. So emotional.

My favorite track is It Pours From Me but Repulsion would be a close second.

The self titled and Odd Fellows Rest are definitely better but this is still a great album.
