I'm pretty sure it's because the band is invisible. It's a shame.
Anyway, I guess I'm like 2 years late, and you've already discovered it by yourself

Indeed, that's a shame! On the other hand, if it WAS visible and it reached the top charts, tru mega black-metal die hard fan boys and girls would vote it down. Just like it was with many albums this year

This isn't tr00ly metal, yeah. This isn't nowhere br00tal. Why should it be rated high? No growls = no charts

not the most accurate accusation I must say. There are four progressive metal albums on top 10 chart right now.

And this isn't a prog metal album. I'm afraid prog rock is liked/followed by a little niche of users, here on MS. Hope I'm wrong.

you are not wrong and I think it is a really normal thing. This site is metalstorm and most people here do not care for progressive rock. I don't know what's the big deal about it.
People who prefer more melodic sides of metal/ rock give low rating to extreme metal albums and those who are mostly into extreme metal give low ratings to melodic albums. I think finally this votes nullify each other's effect

It's this reasoning that I find wrong. I mean, if I had to rate Belphegor's albums, I'd give from 1 to 3.
I don't mean rating only albums you like, but of genres you listen/enjoy. If now, you risk to distort the real album's value. I know this happens by both sides, but this isn't a justification in my eyes.

I agree with you here. I do not like power metal or viking black metal (I know that this is not a real genre) and do not usually listen to albums of these genres and even if I check some albums, I do not rate. I also agree that the my previous post cannot be a justification but also think that most users do not rate genres which they do not like because they likely do not listen to those genres a lot by default. In the other words, I think that black metal audiances do not check progressive rock albums most of the time, and that is also the case for prog rock fans and their relationship with extreme metal. There might be some expectations but generally, I think this is true

My opinion is that if you don't like some specific genre and therefore most likely won't enjoy the albums of this genre, you should give any ratings, because you're not "competent" enough. Considering that I'm trying to give any genre or any album a chance, I've listened to the new Summoning album and gave my first "5/10" rating, because from songwriting and production POV it literally sucks. So its place in this year's charts is highly overrated and was "upvoted" by fake MS users.

You initially told that this albums will be down-voted by extreme metal audiences and not that if someone is not familiar with a genre, (s)he should not vote for albums in that specific style. In the other word, you presumed that extreme metal fans have a childish habit of dragging progressive albums just for the sake of having a black/death/doom album on top chart. I don't really think that progressive music fans are any different from those of extreme metal and they have similar behaviors, and both groups are mature enough not to to to do what you think. Moreover, your first sentence here contradicts with the last one since you are, based on your own comment, not °competent° enough to vote for black metal albums. Note that I do not like summoning and am not their fan but you cannot tell that those who like it are "fake MS users"

Yeah yeah right, but the Summoning album was THE ONLY album that I ever "downvoted" by putting an honest 5 - I listened to the entire album and I've never ever been so bored by music. And the production is veeery very strange. Sounds like a midi-demo of some new band

Their second best after Bridge Across Forever (9.6/10) for me.

9.0/10 - 'Dancing with Eternal Glory / Whirlwind (Reprise)' is my favourite part of the whole thing, 'Overture / Whirlwind' and 'Rose Colored Glasses' are both also great.

I haven't listened to it in years, I have also grown tired of this sound (Neal Morse/TFK).
I will give it a chance one of these days, to see how I feel in 2024.
