I've been listening to Drudkh's "Microcosmos" consistently for about three weeks now. This is generally an indication that I like an album.
If My Bloody Valentine had drowned metal songs in their river of white noise instead of brit pop, then Loveless would have ended up sounding something like Microcosmos. Drudkh might be fighting for air a little more than My Bloody Valentine did, is all.
From what I've read on these guys, the biggest complaint appears to be their politics. In black metal circles, this usually means that they're nationalistic - possibly national socialists.
This is exceedingly difficult to determine from Microcosmos itself, though, as the lyrics - which would be indecipherable even in English - are actually 19th century Ukrainian poetry.
Growled in Ukranian.
Anyway, it sounds pretty great, and I'm starting to believe that if I fell into my speakers while it was playing, I'd land in it with a splash and go washing away…

I'm pretty sure the only political stance I've heard of regarding Drudkh is their affinity for nature.
Maybe you're thinking Dub Buk?

The guys in Drudkh are NS. That's the biggest reason they don't do any interviews.

Oh they certainly can be featured here, because, like you said, lyrically they don't cover that ground.
Not a hint of NS in their lyrics.

That's what I thought, I always figured they were more about paganism/nature/etc.
It's weird that NS musicians don't incorporate their beliefs into the music. Although I guess Varg didn't exactly make Burzum out to be a neo-Nazi band either.

Lots of Drudkh members are also members of a hardcore NS band Hateforest. Not sure if that's how Marcel knows they're NS, but I figure that's it.

No, it's definitely Drudkh.
Went back to try to find the controversial connection today, and it looks as though it usually involves Drudkh's main man once being in a band called Hate Forest, which had a Nazi black metal thing going.
I don't know, though, and I'm not overly concerned: Just got Drudkh's "Estrangement," and it's working for me almost as well as "Microcosmos."

Been a while since I visited this but Drudkh's recent failures really serve to highlight what a great and traditional record this is. Fantastic balance in sound and guitar tone and songwriting that ultimately pleases.
