yeah it's still early to say it's better than the previous album...this album sounds more "folkish"...especially that awful choir...but i'm getting used to that dissonance.
BTW...did any one else notice that "Demonon Vrosis" and "threnody"(theogonia) has the same guitar riff!

The two riffs are very similar thats for sure.
I enjoyed Aealo quite a lot but I still like Theogonia more...for now at least.

Good album. This band has became very costant. That's good for the future. I rated 8 but I think it's better 8+/8,5.

Hmmm, sounds to me a bit like cliche ... please don't get me wrong. I like the band very much, and consider AEALO a good album, but, than again ... nothing new, no real excitement ... understand?

it's similar because it's the same band with the same style. Aealo is a follow up
copy doesn't mean similar. it means same.
my expectations were high for Aealo as well, and at first it seemed weak, but it grew on me very fast. the atmosphere is definitely a huge improvement

A weird album... It sounds more like atmospheric folk metal than meloblack to me. You know, war cries, eastern female chants, extremely repetitive riffs, etc. You can hardly be amazed by a specific element; you can just say "yes this one is kinda catchy but that's not great metal". Letdown.

Theogonia was a HUGE album. AEALO is not bad, but not as good as one would expect..if you take it as a whole it is very good, but one by one there are some weak songs, some ideas are repeated and there is a small absence of "actual" riffs...Anyway, if we take these albums together (theogonia and AEALO) they make one stunning opus! so i guess thumbs up for rotting christ

A real disappointment to me, and some of the worst production in awhile for a renowned band. The vocals are for the most part atrocious, which I'm amazed I could even think that after finding the vocals on Theogonia to be excellent. A good candidate for my 2010 letdown already.

Yeah, by far this is the best track in the album.
But overall it was a letdown to me as well. Of course, it sure would be hard to surpass Theogonia, but I was expecting something better still. Also, the female chants are annoying as hell. ''Thou art lord'' impressed me, it is a good song, but the first two minutes, and the last minute are amazingly boring.
Not a huge letdown, but pretty frustrating. The same feeling I had with Klagopsalmer.

Actually I do agree with you on the vocals. It sounds weird. I gave it a lot of listens already and it never seems to surpass 7, which coming from one of my fav bands is disappointing and unexpected. But that's what they did.

The album contains black - greek folk- atmospharic - metal but these are just labels i think.. The point is that RC want to show what's inside the soul of an ancient greek soldier befor, during and after the battle. I find the music and the lyrics perfect..one of their best albums

Good album but not too impressive. It sounds like a continuation of Theogonia but less inspired. And, as some people already mentioned, the vocals sound pretty bad in comparison with pretty much any other Rotting Christ album. 
Actually my favourite track on this album is Diamanda Galas cover, which sounds fresh.
Oh, and a real pity for me that Alan Nemtheanga was limited to singing just a "thou on the cross - for you shall fight/thou on the cross - for you shall die" bit. I get the feeling that Rotting Christ wasted an opportunity to use such a great vocalist on their album...
