Synestesia are a band from Finland, but they do not play (extreme) power metal, funeral doom, or gothic/suomi, the three subgenres generally associated with their home country.

Their weapon of choice? Melodic death metal, in pure Gothenburg fashion. They are clearly inspired by the best In Flames or Soilwork... Except that it is all sung in Finnish. It doesn't sound strange when grunted, but during the clean vocals parts it really sounds strange and exotic to an untrained ear like mine (and don't even ask me what they are singing about).

Metal Rasputin

Didn't expect to find these guys from this site. I remember seeing them live some time around 2009 when this album was released. Aside from the awesome melodic death metal they are playing, I can still remember their singer being a quite a big guy who barely fit the little stage they were playing on. It was both hilarious and badass at the same time. The album is still crazy good, and the Finnish lyrics are much more sophisticated and smart than your average "cookie monster kills" kind of stuff, it's almost beautiful. Too bad most non-Finnish listeners can't understand them.

If anyone's interested in what the songs are actually about, just ask and I'll explain them all out and maybe give some rough translations.
