Gather The Faithful is power metal at it's most accessible. It's fairly (not to say very) easy on the ears, it's the kind of album that you give someone to listen to when you wish to convert that person into a metal fan. What I've just stated should not be mistaken for criticism. The debut album of Cain's Offering is filled with great melodies, awesome power metal riffs and the music is simply catchy as hell. This is a good album.

A great debut, everything flows really nicely, guitars, vocals, keyboards, etc... Has a touch of old Sonata while still being progressive.

How are they progressive? and what makes a progressive(metal) band?

Well, I really meant that they have taken the old formula that Sonata Arctica used and progressed it a bit, adding new elements to it, etc... And I have no idea what makes a band progressive by definition, I guess if their adding some kind of new or unique element to a certain genre, I would consider them somewhat progressive, but that's just me.

How exactly is Oceans of Regret happy and jolly? It's one of the most depressing love songs ever written, despite being the greatest love song a metal band has ever conceived in the history of the multiverse.

In case you were being sarcastic - I'm just messing with ya

Your dog's a moron, get a cat

But yes, I agree that Jani must have had some pretty fcked up relationships, he totally nails the feeling of being used, abused and fooled. I think.

Best album full of whiny breakup songs ever? Possib. Timo's voice drips with whine, it's amazing, it works perfectly. Guitars are badass as Jani always is. Great super group.

Hahahahah, yeah! According to Jani's blog, which goes by the very mature name of janihatesyouall (like Jani was ever mature, really), they're well into making an acoustic album together. A year ago it seemed Jani fell off the musical face of the earth, he was in Uni and going to get married and stuff. Judging by the contents of the blog, I don't think that worked out too well for him sadly :/ but hey, at least he's making music.

Tony nails it too, and yet he's been in a happy relationship ever since Sonata started some people just have a literary gift.

As I said in the Sonata thread, one of these songs is actually about his breakup with SA. Not hard to guess which one.

If it didn't I hope he shreds away his pain with more sad but catchy pop power metal. And I hope he shreds plenty anyway. I could dig an acoustic album too, but I hope they do more electric songs.

But I know better than to expect frequent albums from Finnish guitarists whose names start with J and end in I. And they even have a guy from Wintersun in their band! Sure he probably wasn't behind Time's tardiness but it's safe to say that he's infected with bad Jari Juju by now and has infected the rest of Cain's Offering.

That's my brain on too little sleep, don't mind me
