Let's not waste too much time squabbling over Vargs crazy antics. It's already surreal enough that there's a new Burzum out, let's not overload our poor brains. Belus, or the White God, has enough of Varg's magical touch to cause controversy from the very first second it was announced, with Varg playing his favourite part as innocent Manuel "I know noooothing". Ah, good times.

Had he released this album before the huge explosion of black metal, I probably would've rated it higher than an 8. Granted, he was an originator in this style and hasn't tried to copy others. However, there's so much good black metal out there these days that it just doesn't seem as good as it could have been. Also, not that Varg cares what people think of his music, but the audience that had been looking forward to this album also had unrealistic expectations.

I hate Varg. A whole fucking lot. But the man writes some of the most chillingly beautiful black metal I have ever heard. Belus is no exception.

Almost forgot that Burzum released an album
no place in this year's sensational BM releases

Didn't think this album was too bad. The only thing i didn't like about this record were the vocals, they just didn't seem effective at all:P

I find this album to be a bit on the boring side, It has like one or two good songs.
"Fallen" is still the best of his post-prison albums by far.

Lol. Varg take cares about it?! What the hell? He burn churches and kill a man, and he cares about racism? It's a bit hypocritic.

This album is very good. I like the older albums a lot more, but this one isn't bad at all. The only track I did not like was Kaimadalthas' Nedstigning. Glemselens Elv is my favourite on this album.

Didn't remember much of this except Glemselens Elv but despite all the shit it gets, I like it. Production is great, some riffs are excellent and entwine perfectly. His clean voice is godly (should have used it more, not enoug here or on Fallen) and the overall hypnotic atmo-black feeling is there. Solid.

Everything Varg has released post-prison just sounds like pre-prison b sides.
