Jesus Christ....
As much as I love and respect Max Cavalera and of how Dark Ages was his best since Chaos A.D. Feels wierd that after songs with Fred Durst and other nu-metal singers are now straight-up songs about Jeffrey Dahmer.

Max Cavalera is a trend follower, or thats certainly how it seems. Now that thrash and associated lyrical topics are popular again, he's started making stuff like that again. "Jeffrey Dahmer" is actually a great song, despite the terrible lyrics! Max has definitely dumbed down his lyrics ever since ''Roots'', which is a shame. If he had done a song about Jeffrey Dahmer with Sepultura around the ''Arise'', ''Chaos AD'' era, Im sure the lyrics would have been a lot better! Tom Araya wrote much better lyrics about the subject with ''213''. They were genuinely menacing, Max's lyrics on Soulfly's Jeffrey Dahmer song are just stupid

Now after just hearing that song alot of what you said now makes even more sense. Just like what I did with Conquer, I doubt that I will be getting this a year around after it's initial release. Yet honestly, everything I have heard from Omen so far has greatly ceased to amaze me. "213" is one of the most disturbing songs that I can think of right now, and only just finishing the Brian Masters novel "The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer" does the lyrics come into relevence over his victims and acts. I don't think that Cavalera has honestly created any thoughtful lyrics since Chaos A.D., all of it now just comprises of just catchiness.

Horrible so far... it seems to get closer and closer to some kind of ''modern fancy thrashcore''.
Max's early works (Primitive, 3) were not perfect but at least I respected his balls by attempting new sounds and making experiences. But turns out he is just like Angelic Storm said... a goddamn trend follower.
This is thrashy/groove garbage, worst than modern Sepultura if I dare.

first of all Im not starting a challenge here but if you want to know what is creative go and listen to guitar sounds. I dont think if this album sounds like ''Conquer'' do you? btw I liked Conquer so much too.

No, its not like Conquer, but that does not make it creative. Max has simply passed from an mid-paced groove/hardcorish WITH (little) experimental features, to a mid-paced groove/hardcorish album with NONE experimental features...
Hell.. not even my ever favorite and traditional ''Soulfly'' track saved Omen...

@Uirapuru, when someone says its Modern, it means it has something new, at least it sounds like that to me.

Ahmmm.. I see...
Well. that was totally not what I meant.
I mean modern in a depreciatory way, being that in my opinion Max is reproducing what many groove/thrash metal bands of nowdays are playing, following the trend that is currently a commercial ''success''.
Soulfly is far from a Modern revolutionary sound(the good modern) being that is not even original among its own genre.

But Im not into Mainstream music and when he can make me feel good about his music, it means its not just Commercial, I said just because even underground musicians want to gain money. I know a lot of musicians who has exit from their original band and couldnt achieve any success after that, but Max did it not once not twice! Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy. But a Musician cant please everybody for sure.
Edit: Slash is one of those musicians I think.

I like this album, but I think that Omen is very simple: short songs & simple lyrics. We're waiting a masterpiece like Arise or Chaos A.D. because Max is more creative... effort!
