This really is as the album title suggests - an ONSLAUGHT. Hugely enjoyable. I'm very impressed with this album.

The performance is ok, but this sounds like most generic thrash ever. Beside that, I agree that the song writing is lacking, songs are predictable, some riffs are good but nothing special. IMO there are too many thrash bands on this same direction nowadays.

Wow, this one thrash album from 2007 sounds more interesting and creative than most of the originals from the 80s.

IMO there are too many thrash bands on this same direction nowadays.
I think the issue is that they're mainly glorified tribute acts who focus on what it means to be a thrash band a opposed to a band playing music that is simply the sign of the times and evolving as time goes on.
The influences are all wrong too - classic thrash acts were often influenced by NWOBHM, punk and hardcore, rock n roll, AOR etc, all of which crept into song writing in one way or another. The modern rethrash mob seem only influenced by thrash and then only thrash at a certain point (usually 1980s Exodus) and ignoring the wild ride that occurred with the genre in late 1980s/early 1990s.
In essence they're shoving thrash into a form of stasis bound by extremely limited parameters.
End result: unoriginal music, cliched song writing, no real stand outs. The older bands like Death Angel or Testament or occasionally Overkill still do a far better job cause they're not bound by self imposed genre constraints.
Agree about unoriginality, clichés. Well, some newer bands can deliver stand out albums/songs I think Vektor, Havok, newer Angelus Apatrida, Violator and occasionally Suicidal Angels, to name a few, have done it. I have no problem with bands doing the retro thrash thing as long as quality is there. Thrash will always somewhat be the same, with slightly different riffs and vocals, but as far as I'm concerned they can do the "same thing" a-thousand-and-one times if it keeps me headbanging and mosh-pit going.
To comment on this specific album more thoroughly, I feel that the Pantera influenced bands (I think Lazarus A.D. belongs here too) seem to fall short on most occasions.

I like this record. Altough it resembles old thrash records and influences are obvious i find original parts in the albums tiny pieces such as guttural vocals prominent in some areas and some modern breakdowns included into the all guns blazing old school thrash.
Its a very good effort and a very good listen for every Thrash listener. I can listen to it repeadetly giving it spin after spin.
The production, songwriting in a traditional sense ( leaving out the fact that the band does not go out of the recipe invented before them) and individual performances top notch.
I give it 9/10.
However this rating is coming from a Thrash metal fan to the core.
Even tho the record does not open envelopes i am gonna listen to it like a crazed zombie aching for some human brains since its a very good thrash record.
If you are not a big fan of the genre i recommend you stick to the classics. You will be dissapointed if you wish to hear something new here.

An enjoyable (if somewhat generic) collection of songs. Goes great with coffee and lifting heavy weights.
