Gorod is a technical death metal band that, if you have not heard, you should listen to. After the teaser for the upcoming EP was released, I eagerly awaited the official release. There was quite a lot to anticipate really: acoustic interpretations of two great songs from the first two albums, a Cynic cover, a new 15-minute song, and a less exciting re-recording of "Earth Pus." Was Transcendence worth the wait? In the end, almost as much as I expected.

No actually, it's available at Gorod live shows. They've probably bought it.

Gorod have not and will not tour the places where people who voted are coming from...

Ahahahaha that's true. Unless it leaked or something, I don't see how said people could have heard it already.

People do travel to other countries to see bands you know. I know plenty of people who are obsessed enough to travel thousands of miles to see their favourite bands so it's not impossible, I'm considering buying System of a Down tickets to go see them in Paris (off ebay), even if the voters here are probably full of shit.

DaveoftheGrove is quite clearly a vote abuser.

If this EP was just the title track (clocking in at 15 minutes and 26 epic seconds) I would still give it a 9. Its one of the best songs of all time.

Being and Time

Transcendence (the track) is pretty good. The structure is fantastic with a nice coda towards the end and an even better climax. While I prefer Gorod in smaller packages (4-6 minutes) and find this to be generally exhausting and a little scattered, fans are obviously impressed that Gorod A: maintains the Leading-Vision groove throughout the song (that maybe lacked in POAND) and B: go through as many successful ideas as they did in the song. Structure was nice and the motifs are riveting.
Textures was decent as well. I love how they can make it fit their own sound.

Fantastic stuff....The title track is just about the best metal song Ive heard in the last few years, only pity is that since "Process of a New Decline" this still is only an EP and only 1 real new song since that release.

Just made me crave a new PROPER album even more!
