I think splits aren't that unique...especially in folk or black metal

but of course it is not so common for relatively well known bands...
My rest seems now calm and deep

Splits are very common in doom/extreme doom/black/grindcore also a bit in thrash and death I don't know about folk though. But like ellrohir said they are not so commong for relatively well-known bands.
