"The ever downward spiral, the inevitable tide
The outlines of a beast, slowly taking form
Pixel by pixel, giving birth to deadly shape"

Replace 'pixel' by 'note', and that is quite an accurate description of what you're about to face with this Blackjazz?

Oh My Fucking God

Yeah that'll probably be your reaction when you'll hear it. And for a good reason: this is one of the most mind-blowing albums released in 2010. A unique, weird, and really violent monster of a record. So be prepared for quite a ride, and not an easy one at that!

Weirdass album, which totally makes it awesome by the way..."Exit Sun Pt.1" reminds me a little of Muse's "Hysteria"...

Yep.. I heard that as well. Pretty funny coincidence.

Metal I can deal with. Jazz I can deal with. Metal Jazz? Not for me. Some parts were agonizingly difficult to get through and by the time I learner to tolerate it I started drowning it out. Oh, well.

I wouldn't take this album as a reference for liking "Metal jazz" or not. These guys are in a league of their own and have some particular ways to make you dislike them.
Just sayin' so you don't turn down a release with a similar label before listening to it just for that in the future

This band's pretty annoying IMO... Even though I know they're very original and all, their "music" just gets on my nerves.

then you should have seen them live together with Enslaved playing The Armageddon Concerto which the two bands specifically wrote for Roadburn last year. Thaat one totally got on my nerves and made Blackjazz seem as super chilled easy listening

Music-wise that's impressive indeed. And next both bands took some parts of it and used them for their next albums (most notably Shining with Fisheye and parts of Blackjazz Deathtrance)

Just listened to the first song on this album, and all I can say is this: What the holy fuck am I listening to? You guys call this shit music?

Whatever it is, I'm totally addicted and I need to hear the rest of the album. If the first track is any indication, this will probably get a high rating from me.

I expected this to be a lot better judging from the opening track. The rest of it is worth a 7, but The Madness and the Damage Done, Blackjazz Deathtrance, Omen, and the 21st Century Schizoid Man cover push it up to an 8.
