"I've forgotten how to smile..."
Prior to release, updates about Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy progressively seemed more and more troublesome. There was the goofy title, the influence of producer Dan The Automator, and the description of the album having a "Dark Pop" sound. When it finally came time to listen, early judgments confirmed the worst.

I liked it a lot, too; it's good they tried something different, although simpler than before. I think their songwriting is still great.

On my list, still haven't had a chance to listen to it.

Not saying that it's bad, but it sounds like "Too Late to Apologize" could come around the corner anytime.

Ach, I still haven't decided. There are definitely some songs that I dig.. and definitely some that I don't. I was really looking forward to more music in the vein of their previous album, but that's my problem. Usually I love when bands try new things but I just haven't warmed up to this one yet.

I am a long time fan of this band.
"The Pariah..." was a disillusion and when I listened to this album for the first time, hearing they did not come back to their early style, I discarded the album, classified as "trash".
Then, some days ago, I accidentally listened to it again (I filtered all album of 2011 in WMP because I wanted to make a sort o "top albums of 2011") and....
WOW THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING!
I have to admit i judged this work too quickly. It's very pop oriented, but is by far the best indie/alternative rock record I've heard this year.
I still prefer their old style (El Cielo and Catch Without Arms are true masterpieces), because it was "their own", and it was more energic (I am writing in a metal site after all!), but this record has a fantastic songwriting and a variety which is very rare in indie albums.
So if you are open minded you should check this album out. It's truly amazing
