This is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. One of the pioneers in the "Beauty and the Beast" Gothic Metal movement, Norway's Theatre Of Tragedy reached their apex with their third album, Aegis. After two albums of melodramatic, theatrical Gothic Metal which hinted at so much potential, they refined their sound, streamlined their approach, and wrote the best songs of their career.

The best "Beauty & the beast" Gothic Metal album ever.

The first two Theatre Of Tragedy albums are "beauty and the beast", but this one isn't because the male vocals are normal here.

Oh, so you think "the beast" MUST obviously have a growling and harsh vocal, don't you? You are discriminating, literallly... Sorry if I offend you, but a beast can have a normal voice as well. Please, tell me that I'm wrong, if you have ever listened to a beast talking before. Furthermore, as far as I'm concerned, every "female with additional male vocal" in Gothic metal particularly are considered "beauty and the beast". And I love all of them.

There's nothing discriminating about it, because this is about music styles, not people. And I'm sorry, but you're still wrong. I just searched the internet for it and I've found several websites that state what I said is correct. It always says: "male aggressive vocals and/or growls and female clean vocals". You see, it's the large contrast that defines this type of singing.

There was a time when some really good gothic music existed, I can't complain about the music from that time at all.
