How much it's a joke or were these guys creating something serious here -- we are talking about Japan after all LET'S FIND OUT!:

I think there's a big parody factor present, but you know what, you guys? It's a good one, we shouldn't shoot this one down just because it doesn't approach in the most serious manner. Meister Alan Watts wrote:

Humor is the twinkle in the eye of a just judge, who knows that he is also the felon in the dock.

So we need to take responsibility in getting it, also, besides just how good it is; we are part of the process. I'm not sure whether you guys are following me here, but I had a blast listening to this

edit: Upped the rating to 10. These guys understood what heavy metal is about and put it on a record. Heavy metal is my way, indeed!

Yes, it is a good one (far from a 10 though, I'd say ). The successor is even a bit better if you ask me.

That's the difference between you and me: you are approaching this from the Redel consciousness and I am approaching this from the Steelemeister consciousness. I have seen that we have 1-3 points of discrepancy in our ratings, however we seem to often land to same conclusion with comments. With this album I think it's musically 10/10 early 80s British style metal with a bit of a modern touch, and some added goofiness by vocals/lyrics/song themes. But I think the overall record is quite effective; just the album cover (the one with the dude with a drill) always manages to put a smile on my face

You nailed it to its point, almost. In the overall average of our ratings there is merely a 1.0 difference. But I guess there is another factor adding to this context. You are mostly rating early 80s heavy metal, some early power metal, some thrash. These do belong to my favourite genres, too. Yet, when I look at the albums I rated 9 or 10, I see mostly death metal, gothic, doom, death doom, some gothic doom, a lot of Opeth, My Dying Bride, Anathema. These seem to be corners you do not come to sneak into that often.
