These Swedes aren't unknown to most metal fans - hell, they've been around for about 15 years now. 15 years of relative stability in terms of their line-up too. Not only are they a stable veteran band, but they also helped further develop the whole melodeath/thrash movement. Not too shabby.

Now 15 years as a band should impress people. And in its own right, it is pretty impressive. But there's also an inherent problem that comes with writing music with pretty much the same people for a decade-and-a-half: stagnation. The Haunted ran out of gas. It happens to the best... er, well, it happens to everyone.

True enough, although some people referred to this as their best album.

Well, even though I don't hate the album, even I find it hard to comprehend how anyone could think that. (although they are very much entitled to think it) I don't mind experimentation, and when it worked on parts of "The Dead Eye", they showed they could freshen things up a bit, but still be sonically devestating. Which is something that is almost completely abscent on "Unseen". The Haunted at their absolute best deliver some of the finest metal in the genre. so even to me who finds some stuff to enjoy on "Unseen", I can't help but be disappointed by the direction they've chosen to take.

Wow just wow, what in the world happened in between this album and revolver, talk about total self destruct mode, and some say it's even better than the one before this one so I guess I'll just stay AWAY from that one.

This one and its predecessor are both duds, although this is by far the worst they've ever done. Everything prior to Versus ranges from good to great.

I am confused listening to this as I was when I listened to Megadeth's Risk, for example: it's not bad but it's not that good either.

I think 70% is better than mediocre... You would round down in this case.

In America it is, if that was a school rating it would be a C.

but fine, I'll submit to the peer-pressure.

I really don't believe in people who expect from a band that they will always play how their fans would like them to. Every band should extend their sound if they are real artists. It's natural. It is not because they would like to sound like something they are not! And The Haunted are like that. They are sincere. They are muture musicians and they released a great album which is simply not for metalheads but for those who see music as an art.

It's a shame. I stayed so long just destroying shit to One Kill Wonder that I just totally lost track of time. I never cared for anything else other than OKW, but this one takes the cake for being just god awful nonsense. I seriously was like "Yes! The Haunted have a new CD!" just to be like "Oh......oh noooooooooooo." Garbage bin material.

This is a very dynamic and catchy album, one of the best with Dolving.

The more I listen to this album, the more I think it is their best. I absolutely hated it at first, but the vibes and subtle complexity is just amazing, as well as Dolving's vocal deliver. I think the problem is that this album is released as a The Haunted album, because the style is so different.

Does anyone know any bands that they would recommend that plays a similar style? Doesn't have to be metal.
