Rush's second album Fly by Night marks the debut of the fantastic progressive rock drummer Neil Peart. Peart also makes it his business to write all the lyrics for vocalist/bassist/keyboardist Geddy Lee, who was previously penning tunes about 'livin' it up'. Rush's first album with Neil Peart (their second overall) represents a huge turning point early on in their history. While "Fly By Night" retains a large amount of the blues, hard rock style of the debut album, Neil Peart's virtuoso drumming and songwriting skills add an extra dimension to the burgeoning Rush legend and point the way to the complex, progressive rock opuses to come. Not one of my favorite albums personally since they would make much better albums as they mature, but a solid beginning for the Canadian trio we know and love today regardless.

A improvment over the debut in every way. Lots of cool stuff here, always liked the opening song and the final three ones. And By-Tor & The Snow Dog is their first great prog epic. For some reason I never liked the title track
