Massive Amebix fan and really appreciate what they have done for the Crust/punk/metal/ad nauseum scenes.
However, this album is a pile of dogshit.

I was sceptical if not a little worried when i paid for the sampler off Amazon for Knights of the Black Sun - but that still had some (well hidden) crust in. The album though is more of the softer hidden-political-metaphor laden drivel i have become more than fed up with over the last few years.
Yes i'm more than aware that the world is going to utter shit, however i don't need cryptic messages to make me rebel against it, least of all from a band that has essentially wiped their own arses with their reputation having released this album.

It's a case of ignore this and move swiftly onwards to Monolith or Arise.

So this was my first contact with the band, and I definitely expected something different. What I got sounds A LOT like Killing Joke's more visceral stuff. Which certainly isn't a bad thing in my book. I'm not quite sure what to make of this album yet, but I think I'll rate it somewhere between good and bloody good.
All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu... This is the truth! This is my belief! ...At least for now.

Still undecided on the music however I really like the vocals. Every once in a while he would remind me of Alan Averill of Primordial. Strange.

The Psilosopher
Best production in a metal album in 2011. A solid 8 material for me.

I'm really really digging this. I knew like 1 song from Amebix until this record.

Edit: there is really nothing else I listen to since I find this album. It's fucking gold. I also started digging into their early stuff and I completely understand why people might diss their newfound direction, but in all honesty I think they just moved on. Punk has its restrictions. Lyric-wise what they did here is very inspiring and thought-provoking, and interestingly if any other band would've pulled this (with the exception of just a handful) it would've come across like a joke.

And to be honest I'm totally puzzled how this record is not more known...
