A band named Derelict Earth have caught my attention recently. What we have here is a one-man project from France led by Quentin Stainer. Despite my relative indifference to the underground scene, I decided to give his second offering And so Fell the Last Leaves... a try (thanks to MechanisT for an insightful comment about the album). And I was not disappointed...

This album has a lot of things going for it. Great riffs, powerful voice, and wonderful songwriting above all. A better production would've made the album sparkle a bit more, and the performance, in my opinion, hasn't peaked fully yet. Lots of room to improve, but definitely a solid effort by Derelict Earth. Highly recommended.
And people, this stuff is FREE! What's wrong with you? O.o

Well, I agree with MechanisT on all points really, but especially it would be cool if some label signed Derelict Earth. I mean I would really love a better production. I presume the drums are programmed?
EDIT
Regarding song structures: more variety is needed. Many songs start from calm (acoustic) passages and develop into aggressive parts, which then might also alternate. There some Opeth influences heard, but it would be cool to hear more original song structures.

Suggestion noted. Concerning the drums you are right they are programmed and for the production I'm learning and improving every time, next time I really hope it will sound kickass ! For the label well I'm going to send demos since now there is an official website and some serious materials...

Great! I really do feel the potential in your music, so good luck with all the endeavors; but the drums have to be real

Well the problem is that I don't know how to drum myself nor do I know a good drummer, but I'm going to upgrade my drum machin to Superior Drummer so it will sound far more realistic.

The album has grown on me to a ridiculous extent. What I really like is that the acoustic parts are not boring but are sort of "meaningful." I mean they are really good and memorable and not just intro/outro stuff. Anyways, I am now looking forward to hearing the next creation.
EDIT. What I loved a lot were the oriental melodies...

Thank you very much it's really heartwarming. I'm now going to send lots of packages to webzines and labels ... It would be nice to have someone review this album here on metalstorm by the way.

I was thinking about it... but at the moment I have lots of other writing for school... but we'll see...
P.S. I am not a staff member though, so who would care?
