Relics of Elder Might is the second EP for Arcane Wisdom. Playing an unconventional black metal more likely to be called experimental death/black metal, these guys offer us here a splendid work with this EP. Let's analyze this album from a closer perspective. The opener 'Misanthropic Horror Magnified' starts very softy with an acoustic guitar and a strange keyboard sound but around 1:15 later, black metal reigns. However, you immediately appreciate the diversity of voices and the predominance of the guitar lines, tearing the music toward a technical death metal a la Diabolical Masquerade. But Arcane Wisdom pushes the limits even more, including clean male voices all along the song. At 4:45, a very spiritual flute break occurs before getting back to the final part of 'Misanthropic Horror Magnified', which happens to become addictive . Read more ›› |
