So, so much better than Acid Bath it hurts.

Not only I disagree completely... but I find it highly non applicable here. Their styles are completely different there's nothing to compare.
At moments I was annoyed by some vocals from tracks like Cat Scratch Fever... Overly brittish and trashy (not the good way)for me... then again, it was a cover... but still meh.

I'm just saying... even if I dig this... I find it simply stupid to compare two styles that are so different. I've been listening to this cd for over a half an hour ago and I'm still waiting for something that can be compared to Acid Bath's take on sludge.
It's not denial... I'm just not seeing how one can compare two different styles and make that an intelligent argument. I might as well start to compare Eyehategod and Kylesa.

Well I hear plenty of similarities in their sound but most of my reasoning is for humorous terms when I was joking around with Lucas about the two bands.

Well, consider your fishing-day profuctive! While you didn't get the dutch and highly elusive Lucalisius, you did find the latino and loud Rodicus Afrodocus also known as one of the smaller species of Marcelius.

Fudge Tunnel > Acid Bath.
I love this album.
It's just a matter of tastes indeed. To me this definitely doesn't have the bloodpumping energy of the agressive tracks or the flat out madness of the ballads of Acid Bath's debut. This one just have some groovy sludge that I enjoy but that's it. a light 8.

Tastes indeed. To me Acid Bath is like a cat aggressively slashing at the perfect notes; occasionally it hits them but more often than not it misses and hits something else. As far as I'm concerned, given the release date of this, this stands as a genuinely underrated album when compared to the unequivocal hype of Acid Bath (3 votes to Acid Bath's 75 (on When the Kite String Pops), Fudge Tunnel's 15,000 listeners to Acid Bath's 61,000 on last.fm). There's not much of an argument to make that would have any affect on the ardent Acid Bath fan, like logic attacking the religious fanatic, and I know you don't hold much confidence in the comparison between the two but for me there's not much that does compare. This album's vocals and riffs, that pure simple heaviness; like a fucked up Nirvana with its almost sarcastic wit, is unmatched in Acid Bath's vagueness.

So I'm a religious fanatic? Jeez thanks for making any my following posts lose credibility.
I definitely agree with you that this album is underrated. But I find it funny how you have compared them to Acid Bath several times while in this very post I'm quoting I see all the descriptions you are writting about Fudge Tunnel that I simply do not hear in Acid Bath. That's why I don't like to compare them in the first place because it seems totally offtopic to me.
I don't hear Nirvana, I don't hear wit, I don't hear the same kind of heaviness, I don't hear the same focus on groove, etc in Acid Bath, among other things.
It's like that poll I saw one or two years ago between Weakling and Lurker Of Chalice, I mean...what? I like both, I definitely like one more than the other but I keep failing to find it a coherent thing to talk about considering how both bands aim at something completely different. It's nonsense regardless of the quality of both albums.

How can you not hear Nirvana in Fudge Tunnel? Seems to me like we're not approaching it from the same angle because they're definitely comparable for me.
I've already explained the reason for the Lurker / Weakling thread given status, quality, area etc. more than enough for comparison. It doesn't always have to be about sound, it can be about impact.

There certainly is a lot of Nirvana in Fudge Tunnel just like there is a lot of grunge (although not the Nirvana type) in Acid Bath. I am totally surprised Roddy can't hear the Nirvana in Fudge Tunnel though

Hey both of you guys.... read it again but this time with your glasses on:
Quote: I don't hear Nirvana, I don't hear wit, I don't hear the same kind of heaviness, I don't hear the same focus on groove, etc in Acid Bath
I didn't not mention Fudge Tunnel in that sentence AT ALL.

Well, now that you have compared me to a religious fanatic I might as well continue with that impression.
The thing is... that I seek different things when listening to both records.
When The Kite String Pops had a HUGE impact in my life. It is my true teenager soundtrack. I heard it in the right occasion, with the right state of mind... Everything was in sync to my angsty and slightly depressed younger self. I was looking for an escape , a void I could just jump to.
With this album I was already in-the-know and fully enjoyed filthy shit so I was just looking for a great groovy, witty and cool pile of filth which I got.

Fudge Tunnel and Acid Bath totally not comparable, I agree with Rod on that one. And Acid Bath is infinitely superior to the okayish, nothing more nothing less, Fudge Tunnel.

Aww I don't really think you're a religious fanatic Rod
But yeah I get where you're coming from, I could tell the Acid Bath album had that kind of impact on you (one of your very few 10/10s of course). I didn't have the benefit of that perspective so for me it's a solid sludge album whose popularity eludes me for the most part.
