More orchestral violence with the neo-classical magic in the Victor's guitar.

I have just finished listening to 1:30 samples of all the songs from the album, and my suspicions raised by the title track that this was going to be far more aggressive than recent Rage albums, seem to have been correct. Peavy even does death metal vocals at certain points in the songs, (and sounding like Tom Angelripper from Sodom on "Serial Killer") and the overall vibe of the album is dark and ominous, which the lyrical content also contributes to. Rage being Rage, there is of course a good deal of melody and catchiness in the material too, but this is definitely a darker, heavier Rage.

I think this is definitely going to be Rage's best work for many years, can't wait to hear the full thing soon!

That sounds promising. Their last album had a very jovial almost silly feel about it, which I liked. But it's good to hear they're mixing things up a little bit. Though I am a little bit put off by the album title, certainly didn't raise my expectations, it lowered them if anything :/

Yep, I don't mind a jovial, silly vibe, and love the more melodic, catchier side to Rage as well. That side of the band isn't totally abscent on this album, but it's far less prevelant than on the last few albums. Overall, the vibe of the album is dark and aggressive, though there is a bit of light within that. What I like about how this album sounds, is it is noticeably heavier, but it's still very much Rage.

As for the album title, yep, it is pretty naff, but the title track is a great one, and I love it lyrically too. But there are other titles on the album that would have made a better album title. But they chose that specifically because it is their 21st album...

I've just listened to the whole album for the first time, and I'm amazed at how great the album is! It's absolutely crushing, whilst still being catchy as hell, and having memorable melodies. The death metal vocals Peavey produces on "Serial Killer" are just astonishing, I had no idea he could use his voice like that! Definitely a potential power metal album of the year contender, and maybe even album of the year contender come December! The best Rage album in a very long time, and definitely one of their best albums ever. The best album I've heard so far this year for sure.

What a superb start to 2012, this brilliant offering from Rage and the masterpiece 'A Eulogy' from Orange Goblin, we are indeed being spoiled.

Solid effort as usual with mostly hits and a couple of average tracks. "Destiny" is one of their very best. But those vocals on "Serial Killer" were indeed a surprise!

For me, it sounds very familiar to Accept's Blood of Nations...except the fact about hard hitting drums..and a very strong bass in few songs differentiated it. Overall, solid stuff.

If I have share of my first impression from my early listening, I 'll have to say for now that the new album is pretty satisfying. It's got a solid production for the songs delivering decent metal assault, which makes it stick out from other heavy metal bands (not to mention about Peavy's characteristic vocals). Unfortunately, the diversity of the album is pretty limited and there's too little identity in the songs that is being emphasized. Still, the title track does have many moments for its memorability and kudos for the band for trying something new, such as in the track "Serial Killer"; as brutal as a Rage track I've been waiting for.

I do hope they won't rush things for their next album and that they'll try giving the songs their identity. (Do I get a sense of "Catch 22" as the title )
