There have been a spate of so-called "super groups" emerging from the woodwork recently, flaunting their pasts as a means of attracting attention. Vallenfyre are a brand new British force comprised of people from other bands, but these connections hold no significance or influence over the music of Vallenfyre, or "strong fire" as is in old English.

Vallenfyre is a grimey and powerful embodiment of grief. Stretching from doom to death metal, this is a wonderfully morbid combination of soul shattering earthly tones, top quality vintage-style death metal, and emotion.

Too many bands too support!

No kidding. Sadly bands like this don't get any attention from me simply because I'm already broke from dumping my money into other bands, even though I'd love to shell out a few bucks for their effort .

I'm surprised at how little I liked it initially, and I'm surprised at how much it has grown on me

I've just realized how the "V" in the logo was inspired by Saint Vitus.

that was the first thing I noticed when I got 7" in.

But I think the band will deny it and say it's a coincidence and that it looks nothing like the Saint Vitus 'V'

Pretty sweat release. It kind of reminds me of Vader's release this year in regards to the variety, although while Vader seemed to celebrate modern death metal by playing into what is popular these days, Vallenfyre fells a bit more fresh. There is so much going on yet all of it is done so well. It's also nice to Adrian Erlandson finally back in a good new release since over a decade.

This is my favourite death metal album of 2011. It has the old school "odour" to it, which is a good thing for me, and those familiar guitar leads by Gregor Mackintosh only add some spiciness to the already tasty sounding record.

A very very low 8 for me. i found almost no really great song (except desecration wich is awesome and humanity wept wich is decent), but only some nice solos or moments in generall.

A staff guy...
Listened to this today (for the first time since 2011 probably) and it was a rather "meh" experience this time around. The only real standout track is Desecration, and it's cuz of that one echoed riff mainly. Maybe the new one will be better...
