A new voice in symphonic metal has arrived, one that is ready to mesmerize us all with voices of sirens and the destruction of Earth, and change the world with a movement as simple and decisive as a flap of a butterfly's wing. A demanding sense of purpose forces itself from the ground beneath as soon as the album begins, and unlike so many symphonic albums, this is not one that lets you carefully ease your way in. More like a wall of lava searing your skin and mind, Crysalys is at once fearfully vicious as it is thrilling to watch while the explosion of reds and oranges reflect and sparkle upon your eyes.

Heard one song, and my, this is really strange. The cover is lovely though. No wonder, since it's by Travis Smith.

I heard the album once. Find it pretty bombastic so to speak. Considering the symphonic subgenre, it's pretty good.

I agree with Ag. Very bombastic. If its the same lady doing both vocal parts like what I heard from their video, then it should make for a very interesting listen
|

I'm really impressed with this album. It's just been so damn long since new bands were doing decent stuff with this particular sub-genre, specifically bombastic symphonic metal with operatic vocals. It's usually impossible to find a non-shitty singer for one thing (Chiara is not shitty), the songwriting, especially guitars is usually plasticky and boring (Crysalys' tunes are quite exciting) and the whole vibe is usually too commercial (Crysalys seems to not give a shit and play what they like). Thanks Crysalys for making a lovely album  You're solidly on my radar!

The vocals are just awful. I mean beyond awful. The falsetto's are just .... eeek ...

It all started so wonderfully...then the vocals began. These guys do play really nice music and the production is fantastic, but this is definitely not for those who don't like a side of operatic female singing served up with their metal.

The vocals definately take some getting used to. Turned me off at first when I first saw the music video...but after a while I kept finding myself coming back to the music video, listening to it over and over again. Now im kinda hooked.

Usually symphonic metal with female vocals is not my cup of tea (to say the least) but this album and especially Chiara Malvestiti managed to captivate. I'm beginning to think that she's not a human but a siren.
Seriously, though, I think she's pretty close to Annlouice Loegdlund from Diablo Swing Orchestra. If only Crysalys' music was as diverse as DSO... Then again, they did a good job for their first full-length.
