  ... wtf.
I've just read another different tracklist on their FB page; then I read again, and saw it's changed.
I'm seeing things...

Whatever -can't wait for this!

Rating: 6 Always great to hear an album will be released weeks after it was possible to buy it at a gig

Got it last Friday with a t-shirt accompanying the package.

Rating: 5 Not particularly blown away by this. No doubt people will praise this because it's Saint Vitus but it's pretty unremarkable, typically dull stuff. In other words it's Saint Vitus.

If you're gonna call someone a troll you should probably learn what a troll actually is first or you might make yourself look silly

It's just an okay album, I expected a bit more... Something like a 6,5/10. Not bad at all but too short and unremarkable. Worth checking out anyway.

I imagine this is purely a fan album. Because I was never really into Saint Vitus this did nothing for me but if you dig the original sound, which clearly a shitload of people do, it should be quite liked for the most part.

I am a huge Vitus fan but this is surely by far their worst. It has some very good moments in songs, but not very good songs. It is only 33 minutes and the last three minute song is not even a song, just some crappy instrumnetal sort of nooisy stuff. The best thing about the cd is the bonus dvd which was filmed in Hamburg at the Markthalle in 2010, some classic Vitus songs delievered th way they should be.
I have had the cd + dvd ever since April 12 and played it quite a few times but every single time it leaves me longing for their back catalogue instead. (both the Reagers, Wino and Chritus eras)

This is probably the first major criticism I've read about this. Most seem to have a "it's not groundbreaking but it does the job" kind of attitude. Saint Vitus strike me as one of those infallible bands because of their longstanding status.

Yep, it seems like they are like a religion to most of their fans.
I have spewed this criticism over at some boards and also in reallife at people and they really got mad and angry at me hahahahahaha
Shame I haven't spoken to Wino after I had heard it because I would have told him the exact same thing I wrote here.

This album has the same sort of effect as the latest Angel Witch on their following. Also that album's reviews in general exhibit the "it's not groundbreaking but it does the job" kind of attitude.

I have to wonder if you mentioned it over at doom-metal.com ;] I can see ventricles being ruptured at someone actually being honest for a change.

I didn't mention it there. I try to avoid posting there as much as possible. Mentioned it at some true (got I hate that term) doom forums. I think one threatened to even ban me for spouting my honest opinion on it hahaha

Black metal's mindless elitism is more apparent because it's far easier to notice not to mention that the scene is bigger. But yeah, overall... both are fucking stupid.

There is no way Wino will compose bad song, perfect album, good one, epic typical, there some guys what never change and die like they are, this band is one of them. old school metal old school ppl, good doom

this NOT a good album and certainly not good doom. Anyone saying it is is a deaf fanboy, simple as that. And Wino does NOT compose the songs here. Chandler does, WIno only writes the lyrics like he always did in Saint Vitus.

Its not like they were beck in time bit if we compare it whit other old bands and new bands whor elise albums this is good, Ive better listen this how some Manowar, Freedom Call, Sonata Artcice or whatever

what kind of toally crap reasoning is that? You have to compare the new Saint Vitus with other doom albums and not with power metal or death metal or thrash metal albums.
And even then the new Vitus album is totally NOT good at all.

And like I said Wino only writes the lyrics...

Rating: 6 Yeah this is pretty average, some good moments here and there but definitely just average stuff not worthing being excited about. Thinking that so many old and smelly doomsters are all "omg so great" on this albums just doesn't stop to amaze me.

I didn't formulate my opinion based on what Marcel said about it. I read the news here that the album got a full stream and listened to it a few days ago and that's how I got MY opinion. I didn't listen to it at Marcel's house or anything.

Yes you did

I picked up the album on the Roadburn Thursday and played it over the stereo on Roadburn Friday.

Guys, in my opinion...this album has the exact same formula (maybe in a slower tempo, and has much less solos than "Born Too Late"), but that doesn't matter....the spirit of the band is there...Wino is back, and those vocals are demolishing towers, fuck...can't you guys see the reeincarnation of one of the best masterpieces (Born Too Late)??...this is really awesome!!! If i'd have to rate it, i would say a 8.5 or possibly a 9...

And still agreed with you.

This is Saint Vitus' weakest album by a stretch. Easily pipping out C.O.D. in that department for me
