You know what's great? Melodic death metal that still happens to be death metal...Rather than some ambiguous melodic riffing put through thickened production with death growls laid over top. None of that crap here, Formshifter is what you could call a quintessential melodic death metal album in the truest sense of the term.

Rating: 9 No comments here yet? Tomorrow is release date. Can't wait to here it. I hope the rest of the album is brilliant like this first song posted on youtube, that would be awesome!

Reminds me a lot of this:

Technically-driven melodic death metal with some thrash-like aggression and higher-pitched growls. Not really anything to wet my panties over...

Very good stuff. Same as their previous.
R'Vannith - 06.05.2012 at 13:04
Rating: 7 Might check this out, interested in the idea that this retains some death within its melodic metal.

So I'm not a musician but I know the last album was written with 7 strings, was this album written with 8s or did they maybe just downtune a little to get more bass on the bottom end?
MetalVegeta - 13.05.2012 at 19:05
Rating: 9 Another solid album just like the first one. Able to listen repeatedly without getting bored. Not really a bad song either.
Stoned Crow - 23.05.2012 at 11:39
  Solid from beginning to end.
The Benighted - 26.05.2012 at 06:49
Rating: 9 Rating reflects poorly, considering this is a nice step up from their previous release. Their songwriting has become quite a bit more memorable, and in general everything feels more cohesive here. A solid album, for sure.
OBR420 - 01.06.2012 at 14:46
Rating: 9 Love this new album! Definitely stepped it up.
The Voyager - 10.07.2012 at 08:41
Rating: 7 Those mediocre vocals. Brings the album down a lot for me. Solid music overall, but his vocals are really unremarkable, as with the last release.
MrClansman1 - 25.09.2012 at 15:45
Rating: 9 Very good album... Great riffs, melodies and solos. Twelve-Vals For The Legions is the first track, that I heard from this record and I was completely impressed what I was listening. The end of this song is brilliant. After many weeks, that I heard whole album, this is another great band, that I want to see alive.
