They came back to deliver this? Was that really necessary, sounds like an album full of filler that plagued their last few efforts.

Yeah that's true, they've long long past their prime. I had a little hope (I mean perhaps some miraculous discovery of some great material came the band's way giving them reason to regroup?) but this is beyond bland.

Yeah, it's a bad album alright, but what can you expect after Rogues en Vogue, The Brotherhood and Victory (I think The Rivalry was fairly decent). Although the album fails miserably at being anything near good, Piece Of The Action, Riding On The Tide and Sailing Fire are kinda good and catchy songs and RW fans should give a chance to those songs. I'm not trying to defend the album by any means, but I think that if Rolf had put more time on the songwriting (and the lyrics) and used more suitable production this album could have been something worth remembering.

RIP Running Wild.

I give a try when I start O yeah old dgood reock n roll, old good Running Wild but after 2-3 songs I understand it sucks, not week, but not such powerfull how band was , cant stop piracy but they live in old glory

Please c'mon guys! It's maybe not the best RW album but for sure it's not worth 4! Nice clear sound, almost no additional effects - just pure guitar rock'n'roll (my son just said it's not heavy metal, it's r'n'r . I believe Rolf just did some tests on us mixing this album in that way - no chorus, backround effects, no sound's distorsion - only very clear and just pure raw music like on a concert. When I listen to it by the first time I thought it's a demo...
Personaly I prefer RW from pre-pirate age with songs like Mordor, Chains and Leather, Branded and Exiled or Victim of States Power but still this very pirates Shadowmaker sounds quite good with some very catchy riffs (shadowmaker, dracula, Riding on a tide) and at least 2 "almost Top 10" hits: Piece Of The Action and Me & the Boys. It's lighter than other albums (Light Metal?) and more roc'n'roll but still very Running Wild in style. Some songs sits in back part of mind makes me to hum all day long. In my opinion this album is worth 7-8 and I give 8 to show my "love" to RW and appreciate raw/pure sound on that album. Cause Metal should be always raw and pure

I wanted this to be great, but it just sounds pretty uninspired and unnecessary after the great send-off the band got at Wacken 2009.
A few nice parts, but mainly quite poor.

Beginning with the cover art, it's a bullshit, and the music...no words!
Maybe it's better think that Running Wild died many years ago!

The infamous Shadowmaker... how the mighty have fallen.

At last it's possible for me to listen to it without feeling the initial dissapointment. At it's release I would probably slapped a 3 as rating but today I would say it's a 5. It's kind of okey most of the time, never amazes but rarely feels downright bad. The problem is that it lacks the kick-ass riffing and thoundering drums one would want from a Running Wild record.. Where is the power? Where is the glory?

Should have been released under a different name but it is what it is.
