Does it sound like old Deicide?

Yeah, kinda like old Deicide with more technicality and modern flair. Definitely old school, but not extremely archaic.

It's amazing how little anyone seems to care about this. Does Benton really have that much of a fanbase?

I don't think Glen Benton is popular in any way by himself. The name Deicide can be popular but most people consider Benton as a douche. And that's exactly what he is.

Look at how unpopular this is without Benton and how much of a popularity boost Vital Remains got with Benton. I think in spite of his persona, he's a marquee vocalist and with that comes its own following.

Well the Hofmann brothers were of course always the extremely weak part of Deicide.

Agreed. When Santolla stepped in and Deicide released TSoR I thought that's the sound the Hoffman brothers should have been aiming for. Deicide needs another virtuoso like Santolla, someone who can fulfill the role of being technical and melodic at the same time, otherwise they come across as standard and boring as the Hoffmans on this Amon album.
