09:39 - Jaeryd17 Are you kidding? I loved the ending to Mass Effect 3. I think everyone was just looking for a happy ending and threw a toddler-fit because they didn't get it. Also, Boxcar, have you played Fallout 1 or 2 yet?
06:45 - huascaman The EA sports NHL games are the best. \m/
06:29 - Unhealer Jaeryd17, agree Mass Effect is excellent. Also, I didn't mind the so-hated ending that much.
06:23 - BoxCar Willy I really only play Fallout. Ive beaten both at least 10 times, (new Vegas probably even more). They are just the best, they capture everything I love. They just need a metal soundtrack and dirtbikes. Lol.
06:20 - Jaeryd17 No best game series, I don't think... but Mass Effect comes incredibly close. Love me some Halo, Metroid, Zelda, Borderlands, Battlefield, and Elder Scrolls, though.
05:59 - psykometal I've done like dozens of playthroughs using the Oghma to level boost, to try out several different character builds (since there used to not be respec option), so I now I want to actually complete it, or come real close. :)
This is so fucking terrible, the emptiness is too much, half the time it's just her "singing", when there are riffs they are identical, the synth sounds like it's getting a bad signal and is all glitchy sounding, almost like it could be in a Skrillex song, the only good part about this album are the piano pieces. They flow nicely, until she starts "singing" and total kills the entire song/album.
I'd rather have this in place of the vocals, would be less annoying.
listen to about 20 seconds of the first song, then you'll have heard the whole thing.
I disagree with the above trolling- if you're a fan of this genre, you won't be disappointed with Herodias' second release. The vocals are incredible (the best I've heard in a long time). Musically, this album transcends the high majority of music I hear these days. As for the production, dude.. it's a youtube vid..

I am a fan of doom in all its guises and to be honest this is pretty bad stuff, especially the horrendous vocals. Musically it meanders onwards and adds nothing to the doom genre at all.
But the rating Bocar gives this album is too low. Personally would rate it a 4.7 so a 5.
Wow- there are some nasty people on here. I really like this group and although I've only listened to the first 2 tracks, I think it's well done so far. Bravo!

Also, be careful you don't break your arm patting yourself on the back there.
I'm not going to go on too much, I hope people will respect mine and Marcel's opinion here more than these people (from the band), who joined a few days ago to promote their album.
A few us of found this board on their facebook page. They posted the link to here and since the album just came out, we're helping a good band get exposure.. why does this bother you? I usually never come here, but they deserve to be heard.

and ALL of you have the same ip-address, tracking back to New York?
Seriously??? I'm a fan of Herodias, go on the fb page all of the time. Mike posted this link there. I'm trying to help them. You guys are pathetic for acting this way.

Like I said ALL of you have the same IP although you are apparently spread across the globe
Well, it's a federal law in the US. Also, who cares if a few people live in the same area as the band? That's how some of us on here discovered them (from the LI scene). Again, they have a fb page and directed fans to the new video. Isn't it enough these guys are being obnoxious by posting these things? Let some of us help good people!

Like I said it is not allow to have multiple accounts here. So your ass isut.
As for being obnoxious? People aren't allowed to dislike something? Or aren't allowed to dislike the truly horrendous vocals?
I ordered this a couple of days ago. How does it compare to the 1st one? (since the opinion seems to be split between awsome and shit)
I never heard the first one. So I can't judge on that.
But this is one is totally NOT my thing and you know how big I am on my doom
But then again you think Gallhammer is brilliant whereas I find them to be the worst of the worst. I prefer Herodias last one over anything Gallhammer recorded
The first one was an interesting mix of neoclassical/darkwave sort of stuff and doom. Not sure if this is more of the same, but the first one isn't offensively bad by any means. Nothing to admire in the production but the vocals are a different story.
Lots of bits and pieces in tracks that sound like filler and shouldn't be there, but overall it's not so bad. I don't see a problem with the vocals, myself. Could have been better by not being attempts at classical singing, but not really cringe-worthy.

If her vocals weren't there I'd still give this a 5 or so. It's like they tried to piece it together, but gave up and left the gaps. At some places it's ridiculously empty.
Also, the first one is quite a bit better than this, she doesn't sing as much, and there's some nice structure to the songs... still, it's probably only a 7 at best.

Is it the singing itself you find particularly bad or just how they're used with the music? I thought they were good, in fact the album wouldn't be much without them..
I'm intrigued to see how this one could be so different, sounds like they really fell apart.

She doesn't use her opera voice as much, she kind of hums in nice gentle tone, in this she belts it out, which absolutely kills the entire album.
I listened to the first one again, and musically it's okay, but it's not really good or interesting, and the vocals still don't fit.
Now that I've heard the album...
The tag "doom metal" by itself isn't really the best way to describe Herodias. Probably better off putting experimental, avant-garde or neo-classical in front of it. Ambient could work, but the vocals get too proninent for mist ambient works.
This sounds like the b-side to Dance Of The 7 Veils. Possibly they were concieved as a double album, as the songs are completly interchangable. If, like me, you enjoy piano music and female vocals, you probably would like this. If you liked 7 Veils you should give this a go. If you hated 7 Veils, avoid this - it's a notch or 2 below.
I wouldn't be suprised if Herodias were fans of Star Of Ash, there's bits of Iter.Viator all through these 2 albums. However, the backmasking is over used, there's serious editing problems here (too much silence at the end of the tracks and gaps within some songs) and a prominent spoken word section, something which, with the rare exception, I loath.
Probably a 7, maybe an 8 if it grows on me.
Too much drama around here for such a masterpiece. Honestly now, this duo is fantastic both in song composition and singing. I did not expect much from production quality since this is a self-recorded/self-released album like the previous one but it has exactly what I want from a funeral doom band with a female vocalist.
I doubt that most of you who bashed her for her vocals ever tried listening to either Omit or Skumring, which are high quality funeral doom acts. Herodias does not really fit in the funeral doom category though, as the female vocals seem to be a little bit high too, but the terms "avant-garde" or "experimental" exists for a duo that tries to bring something new.
I don't want to brag about the fact that I have been listening to doom metal for almost a decade but hey, this band is one of a kind at the moment. I compared it with Omit/Skumring since both bands feature the same female vocalist in the line-up but Kristina's voice is enchanting, it catches exactly the mood of the song and it mostly stands as an atmospheric element. The piano passages are brilliant as well, in fact, the singing and the piano solos are probably the best I've heard in a while.
I think that they funeral doom genre became more colorful with a duo like Herodias.
I quite liked it... my only problem with this are the over-fuzzy guitar sound and the vocals, when the singer is not using the operatic style, as in Una Vida Aislada... that's really terrible. Doom? There's a bit of Doom, but not much. In fact, I wouldn't call them a doom band. Don't understand why people are hating it so much.

Shitty or Awful would work to.
I honestly have heard this three times now, and it's still garbage, I don't understand, but opinions are opinions.
Excuse them for trying something new and experiment a bit. That is why it is called "experiment", you do not know if it will appeal for all people, some of them are traditionalists that don't stand and don't want changes some other people are open minded and care to dig a little bit deeper.
I listened to it more than 3 times, and the more I listen to this album, the more it grows for me. In a sea of funeral doom acts, this band managed to come up with something a little bit different. I managed to spot this right away, that is why I like them, because it does not sound so generic. And yeah, opinions, to each his own. You consider it garbage, I consider it a masterpiece, nothing can change my mind about it. The vocal stands as an atmospheric element, it is like part of the instrumental, it sets the mood of the song, it is esential, without it, the entire album would not be the same. As for the piano parts, I think this album has some of the best piano solos I heard in a long time (I myself being a piano player).
